Fossil diving in the rivers around Beaufort, South Carolina

Tom, I also live in Bft. (31yrs) and spent about 6yrs diving these rivers before getting into spearfishing. I haven't dove in awhile and all my gear needs to be inspected and tanks vis'd and hydro'd. Feel free to DM me and I'll be happy to share our spots. Where are you getting air filled these...

Beaufort SC Diver looking for local dives

Murfef I live in Beaufort and dive pretty regularly. I've dove most of the artificial reefs and used to river dive regularly for teeth, bottles, and fossils. Let me know if you have any questions about diving in the low country. There are more divers/spearo's than you think are around here...

XS Air II compatibility with non Oceanic BCD's?

Gamgan, Oceanic and Aeris are the only brands who still use 3/4" corrugated hose. However, you can look at the SS1 from Atomic which will come with 3 adapters to convert from 3/4" to 1" since it uses a 1". Usually the same LP hose can be used.

Help needed changing from 3/4" -1" hose

I'm an experienced diver but I haven't been to the end of the Internet to see if this is possible or if there is such an animal. I'm trying to add on a zeagle Octo Z my only problem is my current BC hose is a 3/4" vs. 1" which I now realize that practically every jacket/wing uses. My kit in...

    Octo/inflater options

Jitka and Jakub, Can ya'll (SC talk) tell me if a scubapro or oceanic XS 2 would work on your hose? I've been told their are two different sizes of corragated hose and you'd have to be sure to match them up. Can you tell me which models will fit your hose? Thanks

Looking for info on the Savannah/Hilton Head area

Jules Lagoon is a joke! I had to do a underwater nav. there once, I almost spit out my reg from laughing when I looked in the window of the beercan hotel under the water at the two people that spent about $400/night to sleep in that thing. It had a 10" tv and a military rack. Various other junk...

    Steel 119 VS 130

I bought a HP 119 nov. last year and made my first dive last weekend due to dive buddy loosing interest. We made 2 dives to 50' for about 45-50 minutes each. My wife was using PST80's and had to change out. I filled with 32% and still had about 700 at the end of the second but was very impressed...

Any shore diving off the SC or GA coast?

Duece, In response to your question, river diving can produce vis from 2'-10' right now there is very little algae in the water from the cooler temps. The last river dive I did we didn't have to use a light. The position of the sun is very important. You want to try to dive at 2 hours before...

Any shore diving off the SC or GA coast?

Not that I'm aware of it would be like diving in chocolate milk. There are a few of us that go out to near or offshore wrecks and live bottom pretty regularly but often on short notice since the winds and tide change so frequently around here. If you're up for a dark water dive you could try...

How deep do sea birds dive? 2/24

A buddy and I burned 2 tanks at a nearshore reef off of Hilton Head this Sunday. Vis was about 15-20 feet. Surface temp. 59 bottom @ 54' was 55 degrees. We saw the usual fish around the structures but while we were securing the anchor a bird flew by us!!! I've fished around here for the past 15...

    Cardio questions

    Savannah, Georgia dive charters

I don't know of any dive charters that operate in the lowcountry. They're are a few out of Chas. but they quit going around Aug/Sept. when the vis starts clearing up. The few of us that dive around here go out on our boats.

sweet thanks. I'll keep trying him. Is he usually there on Sat? I may bring a few tanks. I'm in the market for 2 new tanks. But haven't decided which size yet. Want to have them for EAN only. Don't want to double so I've been looking at LP108's or HP120's.
