I’m going to like any post that includes Talking Heads!

That has to be a reference to the Guess Who song, American Woman.

Should I check out other dive ops?

It would depend very much on what you are looking for in a dive operation. Scuba Du, the operation at the Presidente, has been around for a long time, is reputable, and convenient, but other operations can pick you up at the Presidente. I dove with Scuba Du once years ago and it was OK. They...

Trip Report Jan. 27 - Feb. 6 Villa Aldora/Aldora Diving + some firsts

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I have been a fan for a long time. We've stayed in the North Suite, but when it's just me and my wife, we stay in the Falice Suite on the third floor. It has a full kitchen and a door between the main bedroom and the big room with the kitchen. That lets me get...

Cancun Airport Eliminates Fee For Multiple Devices

Does anyone have any actual experience with how this is working at CZM? Has anyone arrived with two laptops recently?

Best Dives for Beginners Going to Cozumel

To identify the best sites for you, it would be helpful to know what makes you uncomfortable. For some, it’s the current, which you mentioned in your original post. For others, it is depth. You also mentioned being at 60 feet. For others, it might be swim-throughs, or being out on the wall...

No diving in several years - Aldora a poor choice?

The other thing to remember is that Aldora guides have long hoses and will share air with a diver who’s low on air before the others. It’s possible that you could be grouped with less experienced divers the first day or two. If you get back up to speed fairly quickly, you could be with a more...

    Lost Dive Computer

There is also a Facebook group, Cozumel Lost and Found Dive Gear, that could be helpful. I found a computer once and got it back to the owner through that group. At a popular site like Gardens, it’s very possible somebody will find it.

    Question Cenote from cozumel

You know, I can totally see that. I ended up going the other way, but it’s just a question of what interests you the most. Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying it.

    Restaurants

Can you provide some information on this restaurant? I can’t find any information on it.

    Aldora Divers

Some good responses above. I will just add a few notes on grouping divers. They will not group you solely on certifications, number of dives, or other “paper” qualifications. They will have to see you in the water, maybe for a couple of days, before you will get assigned to the most advanced...

    Question Cenote from cozumel

I’ve done cenotes twice, the first time from Cozumel, the second time from Playa. Both times were at Dos Ojos, which is a truly spectacular environment. It was a really long day from Cozumel and I had fewer than 100 dives in my logbook. I enjoyed it, certainly enough to do it again a few years...

    Recommended AI for February 2025

For a minute there, I thought you were asking for recommended artificial intelligence and almost went into a panic! Then I realized you were just asking about all-inclusive resorts. I would still recommend against them, but much less urgently. Get out, enjoy the town and the local restaurants...

    Trip Report Cozumel Dec 2024

The Aldora website lists morning 2-tank dives at $110. Nitrox is $11/tank. I guess it could get to $160 with taxes and marine park fees. If you stay at Villa Aldora (a great option, by the way), nitrox is free. They do have options for tanks, including steel 100s, which many women use. They have...

    Aldora Divers

Agreed. The courtyard rooms are really nice for a solo trip. San Juan feels a little cramped, even when you’re by yourself. Alexander is great, too. For a few more bucks, you get the full kitchen.

    Bakery Thread

Not a bakery, but maybe “non-restaurant fare,” would be Chocolateria Isla Bella. They make their own chocolates, which are really good. I have visited them in three different locations. Currently on Cale 4, between Av. 5 and Av. 10. website: Chocolateria Isla Bella

Sucre Sale is at Calle 2 Norte 101b, between Av. 5 and Av. 10, north side of the street. Maple Bakehouse is on Calle 6 Norte, between Melgar and Av. 5. They also have a location on 65, which is the panaderia, and one on 30, identified as a branch.

    Aldora Divers

All the rooms have at least a coffee maker, smallish fridge, and a microwave. Many have a full kitchen. I always rent a car, so I make a run to Mega, Chedraui, or Soriana to stock up on breakfast and lunch fixings, snacks, and beer. If I don’t have a stove, breakfast is usually yogurt and...

Finding a (Best) Dive Op in Cozumel

This is very good logic. I do this all the time. I now know some of the other Aldora regulars. Even with complete strangers, I’m usually with other experienced divers.
