    Neck Travel pillow (Airplane rides)

My 5’4“ wife uses the standard style (round) with success, but she went through a few different ones before she found one that really works for her. I’ve never had much luck with them, and rely on being as well rested as possible prior to an overnight trip. Sometimes I’ll nod off for a while...

    Question Tipping

Money is great for valuing labor. What would anyone suggest that would be a better/more efficient currency?

    Question Tipping

Don, I’m curious also. I looked at a couple of operators and the charge for a private DM is $70-$85. Granted, a small sample size of two. Also, how much before and after trip work they contribute to the company/trip or just along for the dive is unknown.

    Best octopus dish in Coz?

I would definitely try La Perlita. I think it has exceptional service, value, food and a reasonable price. I just looked and they have octopus cooked the way you want.

    Question Tipping

I tip my regular/favorite DM/instructor a 500 peso note. He is very kind, friendly, and helpful with instruction on how to be a better diver. He seems to enjoy being there with us. My wife snorkels, so if the captain is attentive, he’ll get 200. I am happy to tip this much for a fun and...

Any tips on how to get on dive boat with people of same skill level?

Yes, it is about gas consumption.

Any tips on how to get on dive boat with people of same skill level?

Yes, all good information! Thank you. Now that I think about it, I’ve experienced some of the scenarios. 1. The dive operator foresaw the problem and added an additional DM. My young son was the weak link and we wanted to dive Punta Sur. I really appreciated it, so I tipped very generously to...

Any tips on how to get on dive boat with people of same skill level?

So, besides chartering a boat, or traveling with more dive friends and filling a boat, does anyone have any tips on increasing my/our odds on getting on a boat with people with comparable skill level? I’m looking for being with “capable” divers. It’s a real disappointment, and especially...

How much should a woven hammock cost?

You probably already thought of this. But, Ask the hotel people. They may be able to give someone a call etc. never hurts to ask.

    Caribbean Criteria

Following. Im very interested in the same subject, but we’re indifferent to AI. Also a challenge for us is flying out of SEATAC to the Caribbean is a red-eye ordeal (usually). Hence the return trips to Cozumel. I’ve been eying Fiji.

    Cozumel Restaurant List

Oops, I’m a dumba$$ ! My apologies. I got the names confused. La Perlita, not El Pique. We went to El Pique also, I thought it was great, wife was just ok with it.

    Cozumel Restaurant List

We were recently at La Perlita a few times, and it was superb! Super fresh, tasty fish, exceptional service and a fair price. We eat a little earlier than most, about 4:30 or 5 or so, and the Head waiter told us it is a very good time for us to be there. When there are only a few tables being...

    My last reg

How about using two 260’s, Halo’s or whatever and pack a rebuild kit -just in case. Or alternatively, have the two identical seconds and in the unlikely event one has problems, use the other one, and rent or borrow an octo.

    My last reg

I thought the Halo is a G250V. I am not sure the difference between G250 and G250V, besides “Vintage”.

    Tourist lost - Cozumel

I suspect the victim didn’t have sufficient gas reserve to endure an emergency at that point in their dive. For whatever reason, I’ve noticed that some think they are a lesser capable diver if they aren't one of the last to surface. I was with a guy last trip that misled the DM as to remaining...

What Do You Like About Cruises

“Stress and decision free” is what my cruising friends enjoy the most. I‘m not a cruise person, but not a bigot about it.
