The fill station at the Islander has been closed for years. Hunts still owns it, but hasn't actively filled tanks there in a long time--at least as far as I know of.
As a local, I like the Islander, but I'm still disappointed that Bonnie Castle is $20 now. I'll consider finding ways to access...
Just an FYI: Bonnie Castle now charges $20 per person per day to dive there, and you must check in to park. Seems pretty damn expensive to ask $20 per person if you ask me. $5 or $10, sure, but $20 is steep.
Anyone have experince with these? They seem more common as a digny for larger vessels (sailboats and such) but I'm interested in one for getting access to some more dive sights. Complaints seem to be that most of the offerings are PVC--and thus have a shorter lifespan than if they were...
@SubseaSports Check out MGE Reels for a omni-handed way. I don't think that design will act like a pawl though... I assume you have to pull the trigger to wind in and out.
I'd really like one that is both left and right handed. Ideally, would be omni-handed. Realistically would likely require a light "change-over" to go from left to right and back... hopefully without any additional parts.
Oh, it's way more line than I need.
There's a compact spool option.
He also has Gen2 versions (I'm assuming the current one is Gen3) listed that have what appears to be smaller diameter spools, though, the overall size looks roughly the same.
I figured if the size is too much, I'll look into...
It's not the upfront price of the Kent that scares me, it's that despite being expensive, shipping from the UK is 50% of that expensive price. I just couldn't justify that price. Yes it's heavy, yes it's coming across the sea... but man, $65 for shipping.
I got the SubseaSports. Less...
Resurrecting an old thread because the photo links appear to be broken. Is the cheap clicker reel suggested by the Chairman and recommended by a few one of these?

Like OP, I just want to tow a dive flag...
My planned depth is going to be well below the MOD for 28%. ~35ft vs 132ft. My underwater time is going to be short enough that no real reason to drive further to get nitrox fills. Hence why I just want to put air in my tank. I'm just wondering if I can be lazy and take it in without...
Ok, another dumb question:
Say I've got a HP100 with ~2,000 PSI of EAN32 in it... am I wrong to just ask a shop to top it off with air? I understand the resulting mix would fall a bit below 28% (of course I'd analyze/verify and mark it on the contents tag), which is fine with me. I don't need...
Pulling from pre-mixed banks. A bank of air, a bank of 32%, a bank of 36%. I expected the process to work by telling them what you want, and them putting it in your tank. If what they are putting in is different than what was in there, I would expect them to empty (or close to) the tank...
I'm new-ish to nitrox diving (certified earlier this year)...
Local dive shop gives me grief when I want air put in a tank with a nitrox wrap, or if I want nitrox in a tank without a nitrox wrap. I always verify the contents and mark/label what the blend is along with MOD, yet it's still a...
Sat with Nitrox for a decade at 3400 psi. Price was $125, outside looked immaculate besides some sticker residue. Seriously looks unused. Guy says he didn't use it much and hasn't diced in a decade.
Last vis was 2011, only hydro was 2007 when manufactured. Figured the price was low enough it...
I'm looking at the Faber steel cylinder on craigslist, but I'm not sure what one it exactly is. Ad lists it as a Faber steel scuba cylinder with a Blue Steel valve. Also notes it needs a hydro.
When asked, the seller doesn't seem to know much about it. Said it was made in 2007. He didn't...
