Question Fathom Dive Systems has their own version of a Genesis Warp Core?

There are not very many out there, less than a dozen. They didn't sell very well and were hard to justify keeping as we increased our production capacity for our CCR's. I love mine :)

Question How do you have your BOV offboarded?

This is the way, if the hose fails it will be significantly easier to source another. Only adds a couple of static o-rings.

    Titanium Regulators + O2

I have been using Atomic B2's (which have titanium air barrels in the 2nd stages) on all my stage/deco regulators for years, and know many people who have done so for decades. None of us have ever had any problems. That being said I wouldn't want to condone it, for fear of inheriting liability...

    Fathom w/o a stand

The regs and valves can take it. The biggest annoyance I had in that configuration would be the O2/suit inflation valves rolling on when I slid the unit into my car. With 1st stages attached it would lead to me watching the CL's fill up in my rear view mirror as the needle valve was constantly...

    anti caustic canisters?

Bill Stone told me Richard Pyle had developed a technique for swapping scrubbers on the Cis-lunar while underwater. I meant to ask Pyle about it when I ran into him at DEMA, but completely forgot.

Looks like a beaver attacked my Atomic 1st stage.

I'm not particularly kind to my Atomics which are all are environmentally sealed, and have never seen this issue, including the several hundred I have serviced. Without seeing the whole system on land or in the water I'm at a loss. Unfortunately I don't have any ideas about what you should do...

Looks like a beaver attacked my Atomic 1st stage.

Well you see something new everyday. Are you walking to the water with your side mount tanks already clipped on?

    FATHOM Dive Systems Q&A

Yes, the mk2 and mk2.5's are upgradeable. The head will need to be rebuilt, the computer will need to be changed to a Petrel 3/NERD with AK4-pin, and the HUD will be changed out. The dual AK-4 pin and mk1 units are also upgradeable however they will require a new head to integrate the built in...

Mike goes through the new KISS Go

The Cells and dive computer are a product of Dr. Arne Sieber, formerly of Seabear computers. Most of us with knowledge of these cells and dive computers are wrapped up in NDA's. This is an oversimplification about the failure modes. The discussion is certianly more nuianced than "just crap out...

    Question Golem Gear DSV

I'll save you the call/message to Fathom. Unfortunately we are unable to sell Shrimp BOV's or DSV's to consumers without the purchase of a unit. Sorry :(

    Pee Valve AND Convenience Zip

Had a suit with both. The convenience zip isn't of much value, particularly if you are wearing integrated dry gloves, or forget to zip it up. To keep long stories short, go without the convenience zipper, and always use the p-valve. You will be much happier.

GUE vs. TDI in terms of opportunities in scientific research projects?

True science diving is a very different goal than technical diving. For research done at the University level in the United States, AAUS Science Diver is the desired certification. To become AAUS certified, one usually must become a registered official volunteer for the university, and take the...

    Apeks DS4 alternatives for rebreathers

Worked for a very popular shop during the HP "seat failure issue" and never experienced this with over 300 apeks first stages over the course of 3 years. It seemed to be a very isolated issue, if it even was one at all. That being said, the blanking caps are different between the mk17 and Apeks...

Question Fair price for used Poseidon Seven

Yeah, I was talking about asking prices, no clue what they are actually selling for. The ones above about 4500 seem to sit for months.
