It's 2024, do we have a decent computer yet?

    Hydrotesting in Switzerland, WTF.

I got my twin 12L vis'd in TSK Zurich for 160 IIRC. But I also did bands/valve disassembly/reassembly myself and didn't need a fill, so you can do it for less. And even that felt steep - according to the price list, a vis should be 35CHF/tank, but apparently they never get just the tank and the...

    Stiff lightweight jet fins options

Good question. I don't have a soft version of the powerjet to compare, but I have a medium and stiff versions. LightJet seems to be softer than the medium PowerJet.

    Stiff lightweight jet fins options

See if a Tecline LightJet will fit you. They should be easily available in Germany (I bought mine from uwfun24.de).

K01 VS J2 OR XEROTHERM FE

I find my Xerotherm noticably warmer than my thickest merino base layer (icebreaker 260). For 5 degrees C and assuming no heated undergarments I would layer a xerotherm, an xcore vest (also from FE) and a warm undergarment like the FE Halo (I personally use a NoGravity SeaLion).

    Refresher

I think you're essentially saying that you want a review of the theory portion of the open water diver course. I'm not aware of anything that would be in a video form and comparable to the written materials. I would recommend instead reviewing your course materials. If you don't have an open...

    AquaMarine Diving-Bali

Not that recently, but they did organize a private diving safari for me and my wife in 2016 and we were quite happy with their services. We would use them again.

    Refresher

Suunto has a "virtual dive" guide for that computer, http://ns.suunto.com/diving/Suunto-Tools/index.html It explains the basics of what the computer tracks - ndl, ascent speed, safety stop timing.

    Compass fun

As a result of some discussions with my buddies after doing compass nav exercises, I ended up documenting some of the experiences with the compasses I have in my posession. Maybe somebody will find it useful. Part 1: the compass that I so much wanted to like ScubaPro FS2. On paper, looks great...

Student fatality - Lake Walen, Switzerland

They definitely don't freeze over, most of them don't. Temperatures in large parts of Switzerland don't drop below freezing (or drop barely below freezing for short periods of time) for the entire winter.

Question How to practice deco ascents?

For 9m/min ascents, practice 12-6 timed to 40s or 9-6 timed to 20s. Similarly to how you do 3m/min by ascending 3m in 30s, then holding for 30s, you can do 12-6 in 30s and stabilize/hold for 10s, or something like that. I personally don't think there's a problem with repeated ascents/descents...

Diving in the Baltic Sea (Poland?)

I've been diving there in June 2021, in the Bay of Puck, from Gdynia and from Jastarnia. Yes, worth seeing, IMHO, although some of them will be around 40m, which makes more sense as a short deco dive. My favorite was a submarine wreck, ORP "Ślązak" a.k.a. "Malutka" (max depth 29m), but I also...

    Tool Bag and Individual Tools

I haven't used mine underwater. I did use it on the surface while getting ready, for adjusting a hard Goodman handle or tightening a bolt on the lamp head.

    Tool Bag and Individual Tools

I didn't have any problems opening the valve, so yes, I think so. FWIW, it's not without its faults. It's quite dense, sometimes it's difficult to fit the wrench around a hose fitting on the first stage. The Allen bits are all in one line, so it's not possible to insert the middle one into a...

I believe that's one of the purposes for the cutout in the middle of the tool. See pic.

    Tool Bag and Individual Tools

I have V1 and V3 of this tool and find V3 much improved. Allen bits are more resistant to stripping and the added flat/Philips screwdriver is useful. https://www.pandora-lab.com/product/shop_tool_ti-32
