What you've been doing is fine. It's what I do when I reinstall dump valves. Stuff will sneak it's way into those valves sometimes and muck up the sealing surface. Small rocks, salt crystals and other bits.
The spring can get a little weaker over time. You can get some more life out it of...
I've had to open the zipper on a semi dry at depth a few times due to the suit squeeze. It's not the biggest deal in the world. Deal with the 30 seconds of cold water till it warms back up and then you're golden.
And as the suit breaks in with age the suit squeeze should become less and less of...
I'm the type to not take my regulator out of my mouth until both feet are on or in something dry. A decent portion of my dives are off a small boat with a....challenging..ladder.
It only took a handful of dives to find out that ending a dive with the feeling of a weak midget strangling me...
I've used a D400 and could not stand the bubble interference from it. The D420 out of water performance was a deal breaker for me. Am I really foolish enough to try this a 3rd time? 🤔
Huh, I think it's still in their catalog...
How long ago did they ask? Maybe they stopped doing it when the supply chain issues were at their worst and they took it up again now that it's stabilized.
@lexvil It definitely is, although like I said kind of goofy to attach. I actually use a small piece of bungee tied around it. I found their little silicone bands not to work all that well
I bought in online years ago in my constant journey to tinker and slightly improve stuff about my regs. You can Google "Scubapro Video Exhaust Tee" and usually find a few people selling it. I'm not sure if they are still making it for overseas markets or if it's just a bunch of new old stock.
It's the video exhaust tee or bubble deflector. Made by Scubapro and it fits the S600 2nd stages.
I have one purely to get those freaking bubbles out my face and it works like a charm. It's a little finicky in how it attaches tho.
I don't pass judgements on the way people dive, but why is this a concern if it only happens when the hose is off?
I prefer the SS1 over everything but the newest generation of Air2 as far as Octo/LPI combos go
Ooh... @rsingler is probably the guy to explain it better than I can with some fancy math and charts for the visual learners.
If I'm not mistaken the dry bleed system is the way the 1st stage compensates for increased ambient pressure at depth. It's a sort of built in IP creep via that...
The Maximus isn't a bottom of the line regulator. It's one of the only Sherwood's that have a breathing adjustment on the 2nd stage and comes standard with an elbow for under arm hose routing. Even comes with a fairly wide exhaust tee for good bubble clearance. I'm not the biggest fan of some of...
SP regs come from the factory just absolutely slathered in lube and exhibit the same kind of "2 stage breathing" that you're talking about.
Check to see if maybe you have excessive lubrication, especially at any places that see movement.

Any shop that's an aqualung dealer should be able to order em for you
Although I'd echo the concerns about the Velcro being worn out. You may want to buy just one pouch and test out the holding power, of the...
Couldn't tell ya. Maybe I'm hyper sensitive to the change for whatever reason. Underwater I didn't really feel anything remarkable in the breathing. I'd just as happily breathe from my G250 as I would the 420. But for me each dive was like a good movie with a bad ending.
Doesn't matter too...
