I think it's legitimate to complain if the port is closed when the wind is fine and the water is flat, like it was on the 2nd and the morning of the 4th. That makes a bad month worse than it needs to be.

The shop I booked unfortunately isn't going out this afternoon :( I hope this acting PC keeps it open tomorrow!

I grew up in MN and my family is still there, the winter will be terrible but the summer there is wonderful. There is (very cold) wreck diving in Lake Superior and the area up there is beautiful.

It doesn't seem like boats have to go back immediately after the port is closed. I've been sitting on my balcony watching dive boats head back all morning, seems like they were able to finish morning dives.

Probably sit around and be depressed. If anything I might go to PDC one day. They're going to try to finish my boyfriend's certification with shore dives.

So I'm here now, was supposed to do my first dive this afternoon and they've closed the port. And the wind doesn't look any better all week, so I probably won't be able to dive at all? I should have canceled :(

Very uninformed question - what are the wind speed/gust numbers that are considered bad enough to close the port? I'm within a period to cancel a planned trip in two weeks and although I know forecasts are not reliable that far out, I'm not sure if I should risk it given that my travel companion...
