Never had an issue yet with my braided hoses or my rubber ones. I like that the braided ones are lightweight..

If your instructor is PADI he has to either get you a manuel or an e learning with the AOW course. He can get both in english if not this is odd.

Have you tried a waterproof wet suite? Looking for some feedback. The w7 and w8 have a lot of nice features but they are on the expensive side so I'm wondering if it's worth the extra money.

Excepte your BCD and fins that I would put in checked baggage or rent at your destination you can fit the rest easily in a back pack..

I had the original XL4 set when it came out. I really liked how small and light they were. I parted ways with them because they would free flow quite easily in cold water though. Never had issues in warm waters.

Sounds more of a shop or training personne issue, have you looked somewhere else?
