    Intro to Tech

Hey Wdiver, Fellow asian diver from Hong king here, here is my 2 cents: IMO the two most important skills of technical diving is control and mindset, in terms of skills to master, you have to be able to control things your positioning in the water through means of precise (good) finning...

    Rec or Tec?

It is simple for me, perdix is a computer which you would unlikely to outgrow in your lifetime of diving, in where i live, it retails for roughly 800USD, however if you sell it on the secondary market you are likely to recoup 600USD. So for an average diver i had always recommended the Perdix...

    French from Hong Kong

I am seeing to see whether my work schedule allows me to get to either france spain or redsea briefly before i come back to HK, if all else fails i have been trying to get Jin Hui down from China to Hong Kong, fingers crossed but nothing set in stone yet

    French from Hong Kong

You charter a speedboat on your own to go out there, problem is sorting out logistics, when i last went there i did a dive on slack tide with doubles and a bottom stage and two deco bottles, you'd need to sort out your own helium mixtures and tanks. I recommend bringing a DPV as if SHTF there...

    French from Hong Kong

I am tech diving oriented diver and have preferred "secret" spots, waglan island ss hsin wah wreck had been amazing for me as well as nine pin islands, and the 70m dive i did at lo chau mun, Ma Wan diving is spectacular as well when the vis is good which is almost never but the soft corals at...

Warm water - dry vs wet

Boat dives, i find only wearing half the drysuit if possible a good solution, if not just pour water onto yourself that could work too. For shore dives i find it harder to deal with the heat especially for cave diving in spain, in those cases i sometimes decide to haul my doubles down to the...

Warm water - dry vs wet

For shorter dive times a wetsuit probably can function, i personally wear a FE arctic/ flex190 for temps between 17-25 for non deco dives and it works well for me

    Diver drown in HK

The instructor was an ex-actor, i linked a chinese article below. Paparazzi which followed him said he refused to comment on the situation and just hid from the media 【獨家】陳鍵鋒教潛水學員溺斃 火速搬竇避世

Wreck diving - how to proceed

My experience was that cave 1 is much tougher than tech 1, many more skills which needs to be drilled in, how to read a cave, how to deal with loss line/loss buddy procedures plus gas loss valve shutdown drills. I recommend people take tech1 before cave 1 as tech 1 already covers some of the...

    Drysuit in warm waters

I dive exclusively in drysuit nowadays, i just plain prefer them, to me 75F(24C) in a 3mm would be super chilly to me. Having said that i am a complete wuss and hate the cold more than others. I regularly dive in air temps up of 90F in my area and have found a ice towel to help before getting...

DIR- Generic Guidance on Scubapro second stage for Fundies?

    New Genesis 2.0

Hi diver4life#1, Congrats on your new purchase! Its a great dpv. I see that you have mounted a compass on your dpv, i am trying to mount one on it as well but have experienced magnetic interference due to the close vicinity of the magnetic motor, did you get it to work, and if so, how did you...

TDI Adv Nitrox and Deco Procedures with a Peregrine

i would avoid that shop like a plague, i personally tech dive with a single computer because i have enough redundancy within my buddy team, but i believe any respectable tech instructors to allow their students to take courses with any two functional bottom timers. Good luck on your search for a...

Wreck diving - how to proceed

Hi fellow GUE diver! I have this personal opinion that the number of dives is not very good indicator of when you should take a course. I believe GUE has this to indicate a minimum amount of experience one should have. Not all dives are equal and i strongly believe a dive where one works...

Problem trimming out with two deco tanks

Buoyancy of luxfer s80 when full is -1.7lbs per tank. With two it is at -3.4lbs. I use a halcyon wing and find it very managable, also I would shift some air towards the right side so that it would balance out. YMMV

DIR- GUE GUE fundamentals, tec pass?

One can make an argument for a course with 110', 120', 130', for me it is very simple, tech 1 is 3 bottles in total, same with rec3 gases non hypoxic, and ascend gas with 32% just makes 0 sense to me. tech 2 is 5 bottles and hypoxic gas, makes total sense for me, but for me t2 is now doesnt make...

DIR- GUE GUE fundamentals, tec pass?

Tech diving is just a term to categorize things, i treat every dive as i would do a tech dive, at the bare minimum the mindset is the same, i would need to have a solid gas plan, a rough goal of the dive (it could be just going down to see some fish) and a equipment check, this doesnt change if...
