I read somewhere else that the Conception crew was doing a night dive right before the fire. Has that been brought up on this thread? Hard to tell with so many pages and so many posts.
Being stuck/trapped behind an obese person who couldn't fit through the only emergency exit during a fire would be terrifying and a horrible way to die.
Aggressor Liveaboard. 24 divers maximum, about a dozen private staterooms, most on main deck. Walk out the door, make a left or right and you're clear of the inside of the boat in a few steps.
I would never book a liveaboard that puts me in one big room with 3 dozen people. Talk about a...
My post makes no sense (about none of the divers being found in the common areas?). The way I figure it, if the victims were awake and aware and surrounded by fire with no other way out, at least some of them would have forced their way through the flames in the salon to get out that large...
A diver who is in anything less than perfect trim is using some, or even a lot of movements to compensate. The closer one gets to that "perfect trim" the less movement is required, less energy expended, less gas used- and that means a longer, more comfortable dive.
To say "Oh it doesn't matter...
I'm a member of at least one FB group whose Admin deleted the fundraiser and posted an explanation as to why, and it makes complete sense. This particular FB page serves a valuable and important function of analyzing Scuba Diving Accidents so divers are better prepared and less likely to repeat...
Interesting question, I looked it up. DAN will pay for the loss of scuba equipment if it's due to water or flood damage. So it would have had to have gotten flooded from the boat sinking, before it got burned. I guess they have ways of determining if that's actually what happened.
I have one, and I'm giving up on it because it jams too often. The internal guide arms for the string appear to be slightly bent and out of alignment. Contact me via the PM system.
An AirSource is a BCD mounted regulator, it's not free on a hose like a typical second stage octopus, and as such it's not all that easy for a diver to hold in his or her mouth. That's the tradeoff for being more streamlined with one less hose. Odds are it won't be used much, except for perhaps...
You were in danger from the moment the divemaster said "you are buddying with him". From not only the physical danger but from possibly being sued for damages if he had an accident.
I've always felt that people who are in good shape such as me, and not overweight should be given a larger baggage allowance. Vice Versa for the morbidly obsese who probably should be charged even for a personal item.
