    Mask leaks

Has anyone tried a molded mouthpiece? I'm wondering if by using a molded (form fitting) mouthpiece, my face wouldn't "distort" as much and allow the mask to seal more like it does without a reg in my mouth.

    Torch or no Torch

I already have a quality torch that is pretty compact. However, that one you mentioned looks like a nice little back up. Probably gonna snag it up. Thanks!!

    Torch or no Torch

No plans on night dives but will have my gopro with me. Sounds like it'll be worth it to take my light. It's a BigBlue 1200 WP. Not big and throws a wide, soft light for pics.

    Torch or no Torch

Hello. I am heading to Cozumel in a couple of weeks and was just noticing the dive shop at my resort offers torch rentals. I have a nice torch that I can take but do I truly need one? The less I have to take through TSA the better but I don't want to miss anything because I didn't have good...

    Mask leaks

I just tried another dive with the mask. I used some un-petroleum jelly (feels exactly like VasEline (since some find it so important to correct typos)) but no negative effects on the silicone. Unfortunately, no effects on my leak issue. Please don't get me wrong, I'm use to some water inside...

    Mask leaks

My first mask, a 22 year old US Divers, probably fit the best. Unfortunately, I discovered when I would go on a vacation, it would rub against my nose and make it sore if I did multiple dives. Also, it was difficult to pinch my nose to equalize, just not a lot of room. I bought a Mares One...

    Mask leaks

Hello. I am having an issue with my masks leaking around my nose. I suspect the issue is due to the "laugh lines" between my nose and mouth. I'm looking for DIY fixes since this is happening with 4 different masks. All of them "fit" when I place the mask to my face and breath in through my...

Yellow and red filter for night dive light

Thank you! It sounds like the yellow filter may be a bit of a compromise between the white light of my torch and the red tint of the fish-friendly red filter? To clarify, it is just a yellow filter, I am not using a blue light for fluorenes. My torch has power settings, too, to make things...

Yellow and red filter for night dive light

Hello. I have just experienced my first two night dives and have a new passion! With my dive light, a Bigblue AL1200WP, I received a couple of filters, a red and a yellow. Can someone explain to me, in somewhat simple English, what one would use these filters for? I've tried good ole Google...

Quality knife with gloves in mind

Hello. I have been shopping for a knife for nearly a year now, off and on. The problem I am having is I would like a smaller knife blade, not Crocodile Dundee knife. But, being a northern US, inland lake diver, I wear 7mm gloves which makes it difficult to "feel" the smaller knives. I have...

    Dive Slate improvements?

LOVE THIS BOARD! Great tips, everyone! I think we have some of the stackable pencils laying around so I may give that a try first but definitely like the Pilot Croquis option. I've heard several talk about the eraser sponges, too. I have to pick one of those up. I'll try to let you know...

    Dive Slate improvements?

Hello. I've just recently added a slate to my repertoire. It has been handy to have and makes my buddy and I feel silly for not using one earlier. That said, are there any suggestions for making it a bit easier to read. Diving in inland lakes it can be a little dark and trying to read the...

DIY Dive Flag w/milk crate and inner tube

+90% of my diving is in inland lakes. I have more issues with boaters driving up to my inflatable dive buoy and picking it up, thinking it's someone float, as opposed to being pulled by current or wind.

    Cleaning old bottles

Hello. I recently started diving in the "semi-private" lake I live on. I've been finding a bunch of cool, old bottles. I've dated some back to the sixties and a couple even older. I'm curious is getting them nice and cleaned up while not removing any remaining labeling. Does anyone have any...

DIY Dive Flag w/milk crate and inner tube

Great input Johnoly! It is a good sized tube, just fits around the crate. I'm leaning towards the upper. I'm a casual diver, we don't swim around all that fast, so with your insight on the tube being the major factor with the drag, I'm thinking the lower it sits in the water, the stable...

DIY Dry rack from PVC piping

I cobbled some PVC tubing onto my glove/boot hanger, too. I hate trying to slip on wet gloves. Plugged the air pump into a smart plug so I can control it remotely, too, everything is in my garage.

DIY Dry rack from PVC piping

Another thought. I did this for my hockey gear. Get a smallish air pump, I use a Coleman for inflating air mattresses, and add a T connector for the air pump. Tap a few holes into the caps that the gloves and boots fit over. Bam! Instance, internal air dryer for the inside of your gloves...

DIY Dive Flag w/milk crate and inner tube

Hello. Since being lock in doors for the foreseeable future I started cleaning out my garage. I came across an old inner tube and decided to make a dive flag. I have a milk crate and the flag itself. I've tested the inner tube, still inflate to 30+ psi for almost 10 days. I've hacked an old...

    Where to stay in Belize

Hello. My girlfriend and I are looking for a place to stay in Belize. We have decided to go big and find a place with the over-the-water bungalows. Being Belize, I want to find a place that is close to a good dive center. She would like a decent beach. Anyone out there no of such a place? :)

Remove battery from dive computer for the winter?

Thanks everyone, for your thoughts! It's sounding like my plan will be to make sure the DC is good and dry and leave the battery in. Knowing me, it's a good chance I'll check it a couple times over the winter, just make sure the indicator is still showing good power, but other then that, I...
