Blue Stone Dive Resort - review

How was the visibility? Temperature at depth? We are thinking of trying for next weekend.

Caribbean Shallow, Accessible and Abundant Sea Life

My wife too just got certified. She did not care for the low visibility of the quarry dives. We just came back from Cancun, shallow reef, 30 min boat ride on calm seas, and she said if all dives were like that she would go all the time. Plenty of small fish and a sea turtle on a short afternoon...

    Looking for two flashlights

I just picked up and used a SEAC R3. It was right about $90 and worked very well at 85 fsw. It was compact enough to fit in BCD pocket.

    Choosing my Fin

I bought the Cressi Frog Plus package on Amazon for the whole family. We got certified this summer (Refresher for me). No complaints about the fins or snorkel. The Focus mask did press a bit on my forehead and I have since invested in a Hollis M1. I have dove several times with the Frog Plus...

    Tanks, Weights, Aluminum vs Steel

So, I jumped in with the 14 lbs and about sank right away. Off loaded the two 3 pounders and made the two dives with 8 lbs. No trouble getting down with those but a little light for the safety stop in free water. The visibility was so low we never found the anchor line to ascend and had to do...

    Tanks, Weights, Aluminum vs Steel

Thanks, but the spreadsheet is not playing nice with my MacBook. I will have to try that one in a few weeks when I am back on my work computer.

    Tanks, Weights, Aluminum vs Steel

So I have a dive coming up and want to get reasonably close on my weight. Not sink like a rock or bob helplessly on the surface. I use 10 lbs with aluminum 80s and a 3 mil suit in fresh water. I used 14 lbs with a 3 mil shorty and aluminum 80 in salt water. I will be diving Steel 117s in salt...

Cancun - Short Trip on a Budget - First Time Dive Travelers

It's long, but feel free to skip to the dive section. I am certified from 20 years ago but had not dove in nearly 20 years. My son (13) expressed an interest last year so we began saving and got him and my wife certified this summer and a refresher for me with Olympus Dive Center in Morehead...

Probably asked before, but here we go again!

I am told Aruba is expensive topside. All relative but I recently ruled it out as a budget travel option.

Blue Stone Dive Resort - review

Thanks for this. I am just getting back into diving after 20 years. Got the family certified this summer and this gives us another spot to dive locally. We are in Moore County, about an hour away.
