No, only ADV (without any shut-off) is fine. ADV can be used as a MAV if you just push the diaphragm. External gas can be connected to (O2-) MAV as well.

Actually O-Ring needs to be replaced by one from the banjo. Standard blind plug o-rings have slightly smaller thickness. Your CCR1 instructor should assist you during converting stock JJ to GUE-JJ. Converting JJ based on random youtube videos is a quite bad idea.

The main reason for a BOV is, that in case of CO2 you don't need to switch regs. Under this point of view the BOV of the Symbios might be useless.

Actually I am not sure what happens if there is an issue with the flapper valves. Additionally, if in Bailout mode the ADV is used as a "second stage", the WOB might be quite high... Both points not so nice, if CO2 is the reason for bailing...

It actually is less complex than the RB80 switch block. It is block with the shut-off valve (comes with JJ) and a female QC6. Mounted between right first stage and ADV and wing. Means loop is fed from a stage, if pluged, but both 2nd stages / BOV still gets the gas from the backmounted doubles...

Actually this is not completly true. Offboard Dil can be plugged using the (O2) MAV. This can be done with the GUE JJ as well, using the (O2) MAV. A quite common "modification" (at least in europe) of the GUE hose routing includes a switch block. But this makes the routing way more complex...
