After reading posts on this forum I became interested in a DIY Hookah system. I became a certified SCUBA diver in 1981, but have not been diving in the past 20 years. And I am just too old now. But I recently installed a pool and wanted something that would allow me to stay down to do some...
What does "QD" and "QRS" stand for? Are these the fittings you describe above. If so, it's what I ordered and I think I can get away with no quick disconnect under water. The only one will be on the air compressor. Also, keep in mind my use for this is just to clean a swimming pool. I do...
Thanks tbone1004. If it fits, I think all I need is the 1/4 NPT male to 3/8-24 female Stainless Steel Fitting. Then I should be able to use a 1/4" male quick disconnect fitting to connect to my hose. I ordered fitting and we will see if it works. I appreciate the help.
Started working on putting together my DIY Hookya system. I have run into a roadblock. I can't figure out how to connect the second stage ocotpus to a standard air hose. Quick disconnects at a local dive shop are not compatible with standard air hose and local hardware stores don't have quick...
Also, the octopus referenced in the original post was a 145 PSI hose Explorer Scuba Diving Dive 2nd Stage Octopus that can be purchased on Amazon for about $20. How good are these as for breathing ease compared to another in expensive octopus like a Sherwood. I can get a used Sherwood for...
To "put some simple green and hot water in there, slosh it around", wouldn't you have to basically disassemble the whole thing? And what would you use to "disinfect" the tank? Seems like a lot of trouble, but I guess it's possible that some oil or chemical was left inside the tank during assembly.
For my piece of mind, I would like some kind of filter on the compressor discharge. Looking at the videos he shot by the pool, it clearly had some kind of filter on the discharge side of the compressor. Also, for cleaning, do you disassemble the tank from the compressor and clean it internally...
The one thing I did not see information on is the air filter. Can anyone provide some specs or links to acceptable air filter units that would work with the Kobalt QUIET TECH 2-Gallon Portable Electric Hot Dog Air Compressor.
The "$50 Harbor Freight hookah system" is an interesting conversation. I always assumed these air compressors were unusable for breathing, even the oilless compressors. Thanks for the reference.
I appreciate the responses. I was skeptical too about the pressure and flow rate myself. The electrical part did not concern me because I can put the compressor a minimum of 20 feet away from the pool on GFCI and the pool water itself is bonded. So I would have no concerns about that. But...
This is my first post. I am a certified diver, but have not dove in years. I have a new 6' deep swimming pool and would like to stay underwater for an extended amount of time for detailed cleaning. And if I happen to play a little bit, then so be it. I am looking for an inexpensive, but safe...
