    Grounding??

Reef or sandbar? Reef is generally not good. Sandbar can range from mildly irritating, to total nuisance and may even get to "not good"? We have watched a captain spend 30 minutes working the ship free when we came back to port a little too early for the tide schedule. We also have spent...

    TSA Stealing at Miami Airport

There is "shake down" and there is stealth theft. The video starts off showing examples of stealth theft from unlocked carry on bags in line for X-ray. How many people trust the airport security peeps? No one! How many people lock their carryon? Or secure unlockable items like a purse inside a...

    Turks and Caicos Dive Shop?

Are you going to Providenciales (Provo) or another island in the T&C? In general there is no diving on the south side of Provo as it is a very large shallow sand plain - check out the satellite image on Google maps. Day diving generally involves long boat trips to get from Turtle Cove out to...

    DataTrack and MemoMouse.

Subsurface has an active developer community (of about 3 people?). Check with them. They are generally quick to respond and often quite insolent, direct and honest. They do this for free and want to make sure that you know that. I run subsurface on windows. The android version of subsurface...

Where to store tanks in an RV?

Do your dinettes seats have a storage bin under them? Do they face the front and back? Both of our front and rear facing dinette seats lift up to allow access to a storage bin under them. Our bins could hold a bunch of tanks each.

Where to store tanks in an RV?

Put them in the belly storage bins along with your BBQ propane tanks. The side / belly storage bins have lots of strength.

    Dan Insurance

To be clear, a pre-existing condition is not a loop hole. It is a statement of fact. You are dying of cancer. So, now you want to buy life insurance. You know you will die of cancer. Real soon. The insurance company either excludes cancer or charges you extremely high premiums to cover their...

    Uwatec Smart Pro

Check eBay. There are several vendors doing battery replacements. Or check utube for DIY videos. It appears there are still a bunch of divers using the old Aladin (not Smart) dive computers. I generally get about 5 years battery life.

Nope. In YYZ Nexus gets you to a different security check. Just like the big airports in the US. No need to remove shoes, etc. You are a trusted traveller. Everyone going through that line is trusted. Last trip we did not even need to remove laptops or anything from our carry on. In small town...

Do you own your own tank just for home use? Cleaning and testing your gear?

Nope. I NOW utilize other peoples tanks to check our dive gear. I am a slime... But I sweated this issue a decade ago. We now mostly do LOBs. I check our gear at the start and end of each dive trip.

    Power strip recommendation?

Agreed. We use a small 3 outlet 220 volt power bar with surge protection. Learned the hard way not to plug a 110 volt power bar into a 220 source. Every device we travel with (including curling iron) can handle 220 input. So no need for power converter, just need the ability to plug things in...

How to shorten the handles of this mesh bag?

Zip ties would work if you punch a hole in the strap through the folds and ran zip ties through the hole. A small hole will likely be fine (use a hot soldering iron tip to melt the webbing around the hole). This is essentially very coarse "sewing".

    Question bequests to charitable/non-profit organizations?

One issue is that things change. Naming a specific organization in your will means you need to monitor and update your will over time as various organizations come and go and fall in and out of favour. As an example: we donate to an arts organization and intended to leave them some money, but...

How to shorten the handles of this mesh bag?

Shorten the straps by making a "Z" shaped fold over in each strap for the desired distance (likely only an inch or 2) and then sew the z closed. The cumberbund of my BC was way too long so I took it to a women's coat store and had the onsite tailor do this to shorten it. $10 cash about ten...

All Air Canada flights to the US from the "big" airports work that way. YYZ has it figured out. YVR not so much. https://www.cbp.gov/travel/preclearance
