    Garmin Descent MK2

None of the Garmin Dive stuff is exposed in their SDK. As far as I can tell, the dive functionality is siloed off from the smart watch stuff entirely to prevent any kind of interference. Apps can't even get the number of dives you've been on so far!

    Garmin Descent MK2

$2500 CAD? I could buy a new computer, new phone, and new smartwatch with that kinda money... I like my Descent Mk1 just fine, but that's really, really hard to justify. It's more expensive than any watch in their luxury, overpriced-because-it's-fancy MARQ smartwatch line. Edit: Apparently New...

    Garmin Descent MK2

Judging from the internal photos from the FCC, it's at least somewhat different. Descent Mk1 fenix 5X fenix 3HR The photos are a little to blurry to ID some of the microchips, but the layout for each one is different and some chips seem unique to the Descent Mk1. Also, Garmin sent out an...

    Garmin Descent MK2

For most of it, the Garmin Dive app was completely unusable - didn't even show any dives. Thankfully, they updated it to show offline dives 3 days ago, but that really shows how new and unfinished the app is.

I reeeeally hope they're licensing some kinda communication standard, but somehow I expect those are completely proprietary. They already have proprietary over-the-air communication with ANT+.

    Garmin Descent MK2

It was both, I think - my watch software went from 8.0.0 to 10.10.0 and then to 10.20.0 again, and the sensor version got a bump as well. 10 brought the Descent almost in line with the fenix 5 featurewise and futzed with the CCR mode a bunch. Software Update 10.10 - Descent MK1 - Wearables -...

    Dive Computer Advice

Personally, I bought a Garmin Descent Mk1 because it was two things I wanted in one: a good recreational dive computer, and a great fitness smartwatch. Somehow it managed to cost more than if I bought those two things separately, though! The interface is very well designed, though, especially...

Aeris manta -help w history please

Not having the computer, myself, I'm not sure what's going on there! For reference, though, I found this video on Youtube where someone was able to get to HIST at about 1:25. It might be a button timing thing maybe?

Website / App to explore sites & find centers to dive them

I love the map-based approach! The database you have for sites & centres seems to be pretty thorough, too. Personally, I'm not sure I'd want to find both a dive site and shop in the same filter list on the left. I didn't even notice the shop filters until I had to scroll down. Maybe a tabbed...

    Thalatoo Dive Computer

They definitely exist, and several French shops are selling them. I was able to find a manual (in French) from one of the shops. It looks like they're French & focused in France only right now, though.

Aeris manta -help w history please

I have an Aeris Manta manual available in my personal dive computer storage repo on Github, which I just double checked. On page 22, it does say it saves 9999 dives, and that you have to press A 5 times in a row when you're on the NORM SURF MAIN screen, less than 2 seconds each time, to get to...

Experience with the hybrid or vented titanium strap on a Garmin?

The hybrid titanium/silicone strap is also a 22mm strap, which would be loose on the 26mm Garmin Descent Mk1 (which I believe is your Garmin watch). The 22mm straps are for the smaller fēnix/quatix/MARQ models from what I can tell. The other 2 are 26mm and nice looking, but a bit heavy for my...

Serenity Concept S2 - dive computer with boat locator?

Serenity Concept seems to be a French company that made a touchscreen-only dive computer, the S1, back in 2017 or so. Link to it on TDL It looks like they may have made a new one, the S2 Sonar, which has a boat hull transponder connected to it to lead you back to the boat? Definitely an...

Do you think computers encourage risky diving in new/ young divers?

As a new and young diver myself, I'm of the view that dive computers are simply tools that can be used with whatever mindset the diver has. Risky diving seems to come from the sort of folks that can't be taught to keep themselves safe until they injure themselves, at least as far as I can tell...

    Garmin Descent MK2

Garmin Connect has an equipment field for dives that doesn't show up on this app and their database of dive sites is pretty new, and missing a lot of places. There's also no dive planning functionality. All the kinds of things that can be improved / added in future updates - they only just...

    Garmin Descent MK2

They're definitely continuing to invest in the Descent series, at least. There's a Garmin Dive app available for phones as of, I think, this week: Garmin Dive™ App | More than just a dive log It's pretty polished, but bare-bones. A good start!

Subnautica - Anyone else playing this?

Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero are probably the best underwater games I've ever played! Still looking for a DCS mod though - it'd be a lot harder if you had to decompress. I recently played through In Other Waters, which satisfies the studying underwater life itch a little. The developer...

Cancelled/postponed trips due to COVID - please share your outcomes

St James Club in Antigua was able to postpone our trip from 3/22-2/27 to 12/14-12/18!
