Now That I'm In, How Do I Get Out?

I do not get on this forum to "go political". My deleted post came in the context of another thread, not my thread, where the politics of shutting down freedom of movement in dive destinations (due to COVID-19) was pertinent.

Thanks for the feedback on the technical obstacles. I accept that. As for the remainder, your speech code is un-American. I'm out of here.

Let's make a bet on who can forget who the fastest - you forgetting me, or me writing off you.

Now That I'm In, How Do I Get Out?

In one of my recent posts I expressed my opinion that in American airports, rather than screen every man, woman and child as a potential terrorist, they ought to engage in profiling - that is, screening of passengers that are high risk for potential acts of terror, as guided by data. That post...

Cayman closed until at least September 1

Even an all-thumbs review of the internet reveals one's odds of dying in an accident is far more than one's chances of catching and dying from COVID-19 but many, including here on this forum, fully support Cayman's government heavy handed shut down. I suggest such people, to be consistent...

    Snorkeling in Key West

I have been to Key West a great many times. I believe it is like most of the rest of the islands - to see anything worthwhile you have get on a boat and travel out to barrier reefs. Although, when I lived in Keys I would often snorkel off shore just to see little fishes, etc,. Not spectacular...

    New and need advice!

Not really sure I understand the details of your problem with shop but the more training the better, and the shallower you do it the better until you get to Open Water dives. I'm certified but my wife took Open Water recently and I took course with her just to update and practice skills.

    Caribbean shore snorkeling options

Just got back from snorkeling-intensive trip to Grand Cayman. I thought the good stuff to see was too far out from shore, for kids, including popular spots like Cemetery and Cheeseburger reefs. Unless your kids are excellent swimmer and can safely go out about 100-200 yards,, I think you're...

How does a new diver select the right gear?

I spent a great deal of time on this forum seeking advice about many things, including equipment, and if I had chance to do it all over again, I wish someone would have started me off by suggesting I subscribe to and review (If possible) back issues of Scuba Diving magazine issued by PADI. Lots...

    Initial descent panic

I read enough, and know enough, about SCUBA deaths to know that diving when one ought not to is folly. Don't push it if you can't find a comfort zone.

Make Equipment Purchases in Grand Cayman?

Wife and I planning trip to Grand Cayman soon. We live in Michigan and we find it impossible to find dive shops that carry all the brands and models of equipment we want (Michigan not a dive mecca). Wondering if Grand Cayman has shops with big selection with decent pricing?

Thanks everyone, for all the feedback thus far - I've been thinking about and it seems one really needs to decide what your needs and applications are. There are so many options to choose from, offering great features that address a variety of needs and wants, but not necessarily our needs and...
