This might be a little off subject but has anyone stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Dive resort in Bonaire? I would just be looking to spend a quiet getaway and would like some easy shore diving.
I definitely agree regarding their plastic housings from the G250 on. Transitioning from chrome plate brass to plastics left many sceptical at the time so Scubapro made sure they were sturdy.
I am not much of fan of their use of plastics for the orifices in some of their regs. The AIR2...
Definitely true, but it is easier and more convenient to be able to quickly unscrew a connection as I did with my old Stab jackets and as you can with the well thought out Atomics. I used to carry my air2's in my regulator bag and take it as carry on. With the newer system I leave the air2 on...
With only needing 6lbs one could just remove the Hydro's Pro's weight pockets and use a weight belt. The Hydros Pro is great for recreational dive travel. It packs nicely, is versatile and it dries very fast. Without the weight pockets it's a little over 6lbs. Maybe an aluminum or light...
I have been thinking about the Atomic titanium SS1 & Inflator for a while. I have so many Air2's and a few bal inflators so I just stuck with them. The ability to remove the SS1 as well as the materials like titanium make it optimal for travel or any situation that makes thorough rinsing a...
This has always bothered me. The older Scubapro BC's (pre- integrated pull dump on inflater). Was a quick removal with reverse threaded Union where the corrugated hose met the shoulder. Newer style really makes removing the air2 / inflator a chore even if you have the tool.
I have had it in...
I think the second to last paragraph addresses Poseidon's position 10 years ago. I cleaned my 3790 as much as humanly possible in lieu of sending to NASA.
The Sherwood SR2 Is a totally sealed and dry flow through piston that offers top performance. They have very good support too. For some reason this regulator does not get enough mention. Sherwood was traditionally and often sold as a second line at Scubapro dealers. They were known to be...
I thought to myself, who is Fred Roberts? Then I looked up "Basic SCUBA" and realized I have that book somewhere. I don' t remember anything from it of course. Bought it back in the 80's. Now when I find it,I am going to see as to what he was referring . I too don't know of any other valve...
That's A Dacor branded J valve not the Scubapro DCAR valve. Both are J valves but the DCAR has an adjustable reserve and is depth compensating by adding to reserve with greater depth. The DCAR also has a pin gauge that indicates cylinder fill status. I also have the same Dacor valve in your...
I have a couple 3000 PSI (96's + some call them 94's), they are 3300PSI @ +10%, 3AA cylinders manufactured in the late 70's by pressed steel sold under Sherwood Brand. They look like steel 72's until you lift one and are rated at 95.25cf at 3300. These were made 10 years before the...
Just noticed this thread a year late but had a laugh. Last year I serviced seven of these valves and use them on my 2250 cylinders which I still find as the most comfortable to use for shore diving. There is a fine proprietary O-Ring that tends to leak air indicating service time. The pin...
Yes, it was supposed to increase flow rates. In terms of lockup I have not seen many issues in the last decade or more. Scubapro changed the material of the seat a while ago and it locks up reliably. It MIGHT (?) Last longer between servicing due to not really having much of a knife edge.
