Scapa Flow as a recreational diver

Really enjoyed your write up, thanks for doing it. Im from Scotland and haven’t made the time yet to get to Scapa. It’s on my list for sure and I like the idea of the 3 day trip. If you ever fancy a local trip let me know. Ps if you haven’t made it to the Farnes sept oct to dive with the seal...

Trip Report The Revillagigedos on the Quino el Guardian

Thanks. I had a look there, it’s $600 more to go on the Rocio . As I was going myself I didn’t mind the Quino at all, but if my wife were to join me in the future I’m sure I’d be shelling out the extra.

Trip Report The Revillagigedos on the Quino el Guardian

Thanks. Yeah it was absolutely huge, my guess is 4.5m based on rough vis conditions. One diver thought it was a whale shark then about turned when he realised it was a tiger 🤣

Trip Report The Revillagigedos on the Quino el Guardian

I’m just back from the trip to Revillagigedo’s on the Quino el Guardian . The trip was amazing. I flew from Glasgow to London to Dallas to Cabo. Flights took 33 hours on the way out with a 13 hour overnight layover in Dallas. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency which was close to the airport and a...

    Question Galapagos liveaboard preparation

My advice would be go for it and have a blast. If you were ok in a 3mm in 19C then you won’t need much more neoprene than that. I dove in Galapagos in May with aggressor and never bothered with a wetsuit at all. ( the exception was the 2 really cold water dives for mola mola and marine iguanas...

One day to dive in the Galapagos. Should it be Gordon Rocks?

Hi, Yeah I can’t recommend Gordon rocks enough if you only have one day to dive. The currents were really manageable when we dived - if you go with a reputable operator they shouldn’t have you swimming into currents. I would say when we were there maybe 2/10. Vis was about 20m which was great...

    2 Tank Dive Punta Cana

Hi, I’m on holiday with the family and am being teased by the free scuba try dive in the pool everyday. I said I wouldn’t dive when here but am itching to go for a dive ( even with very low expectations) There are 3 2 tank dives available- one is just a general 2 tank dive, one is to Isla...

Question Galapagos Land-based Operator - Scuba Iguana or Academy Bay Diving?

Hi, iv just seen the post, hopefully you have a great experience with the land based dives you have. I dived Galapagos with the aggressor in 2019 then did 3 days of land based with nautidiving. The land based dives were amazing- all the sites they took us to were great. Gordon rocks is...

Trip Report Malpelo Trip Report March 2023

Hi- yeah a crew member from the silkie came on board and gave us a presentation after our last dive one day. It was really good to be honest, lots of info on protected marine parks and Malpelo. I feel bad because I can’t remember his name as he was a really nice guy. He also did about 6 dives...

Trip Report Malpelo Trip Report March 2023

Yeah that’s a good point. Iv done a fair bit of travelling in South America. When I was getting in the cab I was talking to my wife on the phone and I let the driver see me taking a picture of his license plate. Here is a couple of snaps of the school of silkies- I was a bit disappointed with...

Yeah when I checked the cheapest fare on Uber was 58,000. I feel like I can live with the 8 dollar contribution to the local cab driver 😉

Trip Report Malpelo Trip Report March 2023

Hi Paolo, It’s 3 dives per day, no night dives . The majority of dives are negative entry but you could take your time if needed , one girl had trouble with her ears and she was always slowest down but it never was a problem. The tanks were all aluminium- I dived with a standard 12 however a...

I also forgot to say- we dived with a school of silkies at about 10m- but unfortunately the vis wasn’t great at the time. I have a couple of pictures but they don’t do it justice unfortunately 🤦‍♂️

Trip Report Malpelo Trip Report March 2023

Thanks Rich, I booked the Trip at the start of November so the airfare wasn’t too bad. Think I was £1300 all in for the flights. There were slightly cheaper flights but not with the same airline the whole way through - so I wouldn’t have had time to re check In my cases. You would be...

Trip Report Malpelo Trip Report March 2023

Hi, nah I never had any time in Cali on the way back. Klm moved my flight time so I got a taxi from the ferox at 5.30am - but that got me to the airport in lots of time. The boat arrives at approx 7pm on the last night so you have a night at the port before the standard shuttle at approx 8am. I...

Trip Report Malpelo Trip Report March 2023

Iv not done one of these in a while so thought I’d give an insight into what went in to my trip to Malpelo. I was really flexible with dates as this was a solo trip and I luckily can take leave from work whenever suits me. I emailed Colombia Dive adventures about their upcoming Ferox trips...
