    Altitude questions

cool stuff. Do you have a link to how you calculated the 85% and 94% supersaturation for sea level vs 7k feet?

    Altitude questions

I guess my question is: Is there a significant difference between diving 45 feet at 7000 feet vs diving 45 feet at sea level and then taking and elevator up to 7000 feet in a matter of minutes. It seems like the tissue loading from being 45 feet underwater would be pretty close to the same...

    Altitude questions

OK...trying to wrap my head around the physiology. Say I start my dive at an altitude of 7000 feet. Then dive down an atmosphere or two. I get nitrogen in my tissues and then come up. It seems to me that the pressure at 35-45 feet down at 7000 feet is going to be similar (within a few...

    Certification is costly

If I had to do it again, I would just go through a $300, 3 day program at a tropical mill.

    Diving before the Rose Bowl

Thanks for responses. I think the dive park is my best bet. Will get there Wed night and have Thurs and Friday to burn prior to the game on Saturday.

    Diving before the Rose Bowl

Hey....I might have free tickets to the Rose Bowl. Thinking about doing some diving before. Any good good boats going out of that area? I would prefer Orange county. Just looking to get wet while I am down there. I am still pretty new. Diving a couple years, have 30 dives or so. Just...

ISO recommendations for Seattle area dive physician or dive medicine

Ummm….if there was an ENT who could fix tinnitus he/she would be a billionaire. It’s a 10% disability rating when you leave the military if you have it (*or just say you have it). Uncle Joe would have certainly contacted that ENT and asked him/her how to get rid of tinnitus and save a hundred...

    Expanding ScubaBoard to social media

Good. If anything on scubaboard is put on Facebook or Twitter, I would never see it or interact with it. On the other hand, a Scubaboard Instagram presence with regular random pics/vids of people doing awesome things would be good.

If scubaboard moves, I will not follow. Leave it alone. It’s a gem.

    German tanks in US….DOT cert

So using the formula I found on dive gear express, I came up with 8.5L x 232 bar \ 1.01 bar = 1952 L ideal 1952L/1.03=1895 L 1895L = 66.9 cubic feet so about 133.8 cubic feet for the pair. Does that sound right?

    German tanks in US….DOT cert

Ok….I think this is solved. Bottom line…use your own compressor or transfill and get someone to hydro every 5 years. One more question: These tanks say 8.5L. I read somewhere that US and Euro tanks measure that differently. Something about water volume. That said, how would these...

    German tanks in US….DOT cert

I do toy with the idea of just keeping them. I am about 4 years (got a few kids in college) from being able to take a few months off at a time. One of my plans is to get my van, motorcycle, climbing gear, scuba setup over there and stored in the UK or Croatia or something. Then spend a...

    German tanks in US….DOT cert

Amazing how hard it is to get a good picture. I think I took like 4 more until I got this one. But….they are 25x2. I’m guessing any ol DIN will work with them. I use my normal MK17 Regs with them and they filled them here with quality desert air.

    German tanks in US….DOT cert

My super sweet, yet illegal tanks. Still don’t know why they won’t accept European certified tanks here. I get third world, but germans make some sweet stuff. Even the Italians used German O2 tanks when they climbed K2 instead of their leaky Italian ones. Anywho…8.5L, 232 Bar paper weights.

    German tanks in US….DOT cert

They are 8.5 liters each. 230 Bar…well, actually the tank is like 300+ bar or something but the valves are ~230. I’d have to go double check. I am in Utah.

    German tanks in US….DOT cert

Thanks. Pity as they are excellent tanks and only 3 yrs old. Germans know their stuff when it comes to compressed air cylinders. Frankly, I’d trust these over many of the clapped out, boat tanks I see out there. I will save them for if I ever go back to Germany.

    German tanks in US….DOT cert

Hey…I have a tiny doubles twin set I brought back to the US from Germany. They are great tanks but don’t have a DOT markings. My local shop put them into service but is not sure he can hydro them when they are due. Any ideas on this? If anything, the European certs are more...
