thanks for the hint. the noname console is of quite unflexible rubber, which is probably a good thing. got the gauge out with a big screwdriver and already rinsed it an removed the gunk from the back.
thank you for all your helpful comments. much obliged. let me see if i can isolate one of the depth gauges. as to the mask/hood issue, both my hoods are rather thick neoprene and snug fit, and i was wearing gloves which makes arrangement a bit tricky, also water temp like mentioned wasn't...
