    Deco regulators

I work (and thus live most of the year) in France (although I'm not French so I'm not certified under their weird agency) and I like the idea of having a green regulator on a green hose for O2, and all DIN equipment :D I'm new to deco but did some cave diving in the Lot with the my local caving...

Dive Rite Nitek Q screw dimensions

Hi, I'm late as I wanted to unscrew it and take a picture for you but you were faster :D The buttons are external and you only need to unscrew the back panel to replace them. Here is the picture I took: For us Europeans it's just important to use a 1/16 imperial key and not a 2mm one as I...

XDEEP Dump Valve Handle Extension (3D printable)

Hello, I've recently bough the XDEEP NX Project set and I really love it, especially the harness. However, I had difficulties grabbing the dump valve handle of my wing with gloves. The original handle proved to be a bit small and elusive for my poor frontal lobe. So, for the next dive, I...

    Greetings from France & Croatia

Hello, time to officially say hi after a few very enjoyable and thoughtful discussions here. So: hi, I'm Vedran V. (thus my standard username), originally from an island of the northern Adriatic (where I still love to spend all my holidays), moved to France for my PhD and, for now, remained...

Apeks DST 5 port orientation on doubles for cave diving

Great, thank you very much, those are the (reassuring) answers I was looking for!

Apeks DST 5 port orientation on doubles for cave diving

Yeah, so since I have the sealed version (28 to 23) my question is, what happens if I scratch/cut/break element (27) and maybe (26, 25) since they're also quite exposed? If I lost the 1st stage, then I'm probably right to worry of facing the diaphragm outward / forward and should better keep it...

Apeks DST 5 port orientation on doubles for cave diving

Hm.... so if I damage the exposed hydrostatic diaphragm (27) and let's say maybe another close component (down to 25), there is another diaphragm behind it in the DST version? Just from this diagram, I fail to see it and it seems that the hydrostatic diaphragm (27) actuates the HP valve (13)...

Apeks DST 5 port orientation on doubles for cave diving

Cool! Very interesting read and fact, I was totally unaware of this (still far from trimix and those depths for now anyway), shines a completely different light on the seals I was worrying about. Glad I asked for your thoughts at ScubaBoard, thank you.

Apeks DST 5 port orientation on doubles for cave diving

Yeah, makes sense. And if I want to really protect everything, we also have our DIY meshes that go around the valves that tend to be used here. If I'm not wrong, the valves I'm using, from the european BTS systems, shouldn't have any burst disks but I'll seek confirmation out of curiosity...

Apeks DST 5 port orientation on doubles for cave diving

Thank you all for your answers, I feel more comfortable now with the idea of having the outer seal/diaphragm facing out/slightly forward. Thank you for the detailed answer, that's what I had in mind (love the clean routing) but was puzzled whether I want the seals pointing out, slightly...

Apeks DST 5 port orientation on doubles for cave diving

Hello, I'm setting up a set of two 5 port DST first stages in the classical DIR setup (long hose on the left side, short on the right + two inflator hoses and SPG) on a twin set that I'd use for cave diving (among other things) so I might accidentally hit something every now and then. I'm quite...

Dive Rite Nitek Q screw dimensions

Hello, so, to post a (quite delayed) update on this topic: I've also asked Dive Rite and they replied super-promptly: The 1/8 part looked kinda strange so what I ordered (from a US eBay store, the only place where I was able to find them) was: #4-40 x 1/4" Flat Head Socket Caps Screws 82°...

Dive Rite Nitek Q screw dimensions

I've tried asking dive rite, we'll see if they reply, if not I guess I'll have to go for this, though the screw is tiny and of a very soft metal so I wouldn't want it to easily break.

Dive Rite Nitek Q screw dimensions

Hello, I've bought a 2nd hand Nitek Q as my backup computer (I plan to start cave dive training) and unfortunately, although it didn't have a single scratch, the B (right) button wasn't working. I've noticed that it's just a problem with the button itself and not the (hall effect) sensor so...
