Is Scuba just not meant for me?

If that helps OP, most people are far from perfect at their first level of certification. You will improve if you practice from time to time. I had another phobia: I have really bad vertigo, doing a giant stride was very hard for me. I kept jumping in a swimming pool from the steps from higher...

How do you choose a wing?

I used to har the halcyon STA, and never had any issue with it. I don’t like to have too much weight on the belt so it’s good for me to have the option to shift some weight.

Why do people add a few minutes to their last deco stop?

I’d agree with you, I think when he means to say that the results were obtained through trial and error and we still have many unknowns.. But this does not mean it is not scientific, trial and error is definitely part of the scientific process.

Practicing deco stops w/o going into deco

one exercise that is done in GUE fundies and that I found really useful is to finish the dive like this: - stop at 6m for a few minutes (do your safety stop if you were not in deco for example) - now you will ascend 1m per 1m, you will signal that you will move up 1m to your buddy (make sure...

Marking a BPW Harness for different setups?

If you get a plate and harness you could get one from Custom Divers in the U.K. and a webbing with the necessary to make it a backup plate for about 200 GBP, you could find an used one from the Facebook group U.K. Scuba stuff for sale for 1/2 the price. If not use some kind of paint or markers...

The curious case of AI. Do you use a back up SPG while using AI?

Why do you prefer a button out of curiosity? OP, not all transmitters are equal, I had a D4i with the suunto transmitter, it was bad and hard to check if the connection worked, had a few cases where it disconnected during the dive and didn’t reconnect. I have used the Perdix ai transmitter and...

    Info Are Pony Bottles Dangerous?

He said it is “suited to”replace the reserve. He could mean that he would use it in case of emergency. In case of ambiguity, you have to use the conditional tense or ask a clarification. Edit: ah actually in the post before that, he talks about using it to extend his dive.

Ok but you missed the point, the person he is replying to did not say this.

    Info Are Pony Bottles Dangerous?

I don’t understand, if he never uses the 19cf except in case of emergency, why do you object to it calling it a pony?

    Info Are Pony Bottles Dangerous?

Not sure if it’s common for a vacation only diver to invest in a pony.
