Hi all,
I'm considering buying a Nauticam housing for my Sony RX100 VA and a Kraken KRL-01 67mm Wet Wide Lens. Does anyone know if the Kraken is compatible with the Nauticam bayonet mount adapter for SMC/CMC (as I'm getting a CMC-2 as well)? I can't find information on this anywhere.
Thanks for that guide, I hadn't come across it before. I actually ended up doing the same thing in the guide (rolling the seal at the feet up) and was still struggling to get it on. The problem seems to be a pair of stiff liners on the inside of the ankle seal that don't expand like the rest of...
I owned the Apeks RK3 HD first as they're very popular in Kuwait and highly recommended by a lot of the instructors and divers that I dive with. However, I've tried them on 6 dives and I found them causing me severe leg cramping and foot pain and not very efficient (even though I workout, lift...
I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to say thank you for the great tip Laval of stretching the neck seal. Mine was choking me (just bought the 3mm Proteus II from Divestock) but otherwise fit great (getting my feet through the leg openings was a nightmare though). I let it stretch for...
I'm currently doing my Rescue Diver certification. When I did the unconscious diver skills practice, my buddy had a jacket BCD, I had a back-wing inflation BCD (Apeks Black Ice). We each had to pretend to be unconscious with our faces in the water, and the other one would have to go through the...
I'm considering purchasing one of the below wetsuits as my first suit for early winter diving in Kuwait (Oct./Nov. 25-29 celsius) and a future liveaboard safari to Sudan. From cheapest to most expensive they're:
Scubapro Everflex Mens 3mm (2018 UK model, front zipper version)
WaterProof Mens...
Hey @HBVetera n2312 , thanks for your feedback and tips. I might try getting one of those hybrid rash guard/neoprene rash guards and see if it helps with the riding up until it gets cold enough to dive with a wetsuit (or end up custom tailoring a crotch strap for it). I'm still playing with...
@admikar thanks for the tips and the recommendation. I'll check those out and see if I can find any Mares resellers locally. I'm also waiting on my local dive shop to bring some X-Deep BCDs in my size to try out.
Quick review & update: I've used my Apeks Black Ice on 3 dives so far (the last of which is for my Rescue Diver training). While it's still unwieldy to pack, it's extremely comfortable to wear and dive in. I love having 4 purge valves and the 5 D-Rings (although I wish they'd put some above the...
I went ahead and bought one (SM/MD) and had the shoulder and waist moved down to the lowest setting (diving in rash guard & swim shorts only) it fits great and I love diving with it. However, on the surface it tends to ride up a little bit (not as much as jacket BCDs though). A few people here...
That's good to know, I'll just stick with that for now and reread my old OW manual in between the speciality courses I'll be doing. Might keep dive theory for a bit later then.
I do have an old manual from the 90s that I was thinking of rereading but I'm curious if there's been any new info or changes in certain procedures in the course material since then. Dive computer usage is a new thing for one. I'd like to brush up on navigation. I'd also like to review the...
Thank you both for the info. Seems like Dive Theory will fit the bill then. Will check with my instructor if taking that now as an eLearning course is ok or not.
@oly I prefer the eLearning option as it let's me save days /evenings away from home & the family for dive trips. Don't want to use...
Hello all. I completed my YMCA Open Water (converted to PADI) & PADI Advanced Open Water certs quite some time ago (1994 & 1998) and only dove a handful of times the last of which was in 2005 up until recently. Last month I went on a family vacation to the Maldives where I did a one-day pool...
Thanks for your input @admikar. I agree it is a bit unwieldy which is why I originally wanted the Rogue, but as you said it is quite comfortable. The adjustable sizing is also a great plus as it fits me a lot more snugly than any of the rental BCDs I've tried so far. Here's hoping it feels as...
Yeah I do prefer the ScubaPro weight pockets and the shoulder releases as well. Unfortunately here in Kuwait we have limited selections of equipment and the sole ScubaPro distributor doesn't stock and won't order any back inflated BCDs only the jacket ones. Otherwise I would've gone with a...
