    DIN cylinders available?

DIN is a better setup. I’ve travelled the world diving and about 85 percent of the time, getting DIN tanks isn’t an issue. Most Yoke tanks convert to DIN these days. For the 15 percent of the time when it is, the adapter works fine and I’ve never had a problem with bumping my head on it. Never...

Winter Diving In Sant Feliu de Guixols

I'm planning a December trip to Sant Feliu de Guixols (1h 20min north of Barcelona) and I've contacted every dive shop I could find on Google and all of them either told me they weren't open in December or they just didn't respond. Since my wife and I are considering purchasing an apartment...

    Kish Island

I flew into Tehran, drove from Tehran to Shiraz (seeing sights of both modern and ancient Persian history along the way), then took a brief flight to Kish Island. On Kish I did 4 dives. What follows here are a few thoughts and notes on travel in Iran and diving in Kish. 1) My minder: I arranged...

    Diving Near Barcelona

Just weighing in here that Tossa de Mar is in my opinion a nicer option than Lloret de Mar for non-diving activities. (Haven't dove Lloret de Mar, so can't compare diving.) Beautiful walled old city with towers to protect it from pirates, built in the 14th century. The Grand Hotel Reymar has a...

    Kish Island

I'll be heading off to Iran in about 2 weeks, looking to drive from Tehran to Shiraz, stopping along the way to see the some of the more interesting spots in both ancient and modern history. After that, a short flight and 3 days diving in Kish. I'll be posting a dive report upon my return.

    A Case for Spare Air

Hey Compressor! Yes, I have. I had heard complaints (mostly here on Scubaboard) that Spare Air is poorly made or doesn't breathe well so I wanted to test that out. I travelled around with it for a year, and tested it out in a variety of situations whenever it was practical. (Usually the last...

    A Case for Spare Air

scubadada and markmund I appreciate the tips on travelling with a pony bottle. Good to know. However, if I am planning for a lengthy trip with clothes, work equipment and electronics, cameras and a single dive bag, those weight restrictions will still probably keep me using a Spare Air over a...

    A Case for Spare Air

Do you unscrew the valve and leave it open to inspection? I'm sort of timid about doing this with a "real" scuba tank. When I travel, my Dive Bag frequently gets that secondary TSA inspected note left in it. I assume (without any evidence) they saw the tank and were checking it.

    A Case for Spare Air

Hey all! I know I'm going to catch hell for saying something in favor of Spare Air. But I've been using one and testing it out for about a year and a half now and I thought I'd post some observations. When I go diving if I haven't used my Spare Air for an emergency purpose (and I've never...

Any returns bout diving in Iran ?

Excellent... I'm tentatively going to be diving Kish Island late April 2019. There's a bit of a hassle as an American to get a Iranian Visa (but nothing near hassle for Iranians trying to get a US Visa). I will be posting a dive report here and on YouTube.

Any returns bout diving in Iran ?

Eager to hear if you ended up diving in Iran. I've got ambitions to go to Kish Island in 2019. Curious to hear tales and advice. Also if there's anywhere else in Iran to go diving, let me know!

Wreck of the Souffleur, Beirut Lebanon

Went diving in Beirut Lebanon with Calypso Dive Center. We visited the wreck of the Souffleur, a Vichy French submarine sunk by a British submarine in 1941. Lies in about 37m of water, few km offshore from Beirut Airport.
