I plan to. I actually plan on taking many more classes but right now my job as a commercial fisherman doesn't allow me to schedule anything. It took me years to find time to do a 1 on 1 OW course. In January I will be starting a new career though which has a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off schedule. I'm...
Like JohnnyC said I went through a bunch when I was vaping with mechanical mods at high amp ratings. Abusing a cell like that shortens the life and when you are pushing them for all they are worth a 10% decrease in performance is noticeable so I would recycle them and get new ones.
I also made...
Vape shops are notorious for selling fake cells. I've gotten some myself. Also, there may be some vape shop somewhere that sells protected cells, but that is not the norm.
I've just been sticking in 15' or less for the most part. I haven't been using it much though. I used it a bunch for the first couple weeks but I've been trying to focus more on improving my diving ability so I haven't been bringing the excal with me.
It's not an excal II just an excal. It is great! I've already found a bunch of old Sterling rings and one gold wedding band. The one I got does have a few small issues though so I should probably send it out to get fixed this winter.
I recently got a drysuit but I'm not a fan of the installed boots. They are hard rubber and don't allow much for ankle movements. The biggest problem though is that the boots don't really fit in my scubapro jet fins.
Instead of spending $150 on new fins and straps and still having boots I'm not...
I have 5 AL80's that I tend to carry around in the back of my truck. I usually just leave them there because they get used often so it's easier than carrying them somewhere else just to haul them back out again.
My problem is keeping them back there in a way that they are stable and don't move...
I don't breathe through both tanks I was just trying to make sure I have all of my bases covered with regards to redundancy. Of the 8 or so SM dives I have done so far I have been alternating tanks, but that was more just to practice switching tanks, I didn't know it was the way it was supposed...
I thought bringing a pony bottle would be overkill. I just want to make sure I am giving myself the best chance if and when I find myself in a bad situation. I was just thinking of a situation where I breathe one tank down then the reg on the other tank freezes and freeflows or blows a burst...
I am diving side mount doubles, usually around 45-65fsw, but sometimes deeper. What is an acceptable amount of redundant air to carry, if any? I have a 3cf spare air that I shouldn't have bought but I didn't know better when I got it. I also have a 19cf pony bottle.
Part of me thinks no...
I'm still only OW certified but I already can't wait to get into technical diving. I know it will be a while though. The thought of diving in places nobody else has and staying down for hours, along with the technical knowledge part is calling to me.
I mean, diving to 60' is really cool and I'm...
I switched my bp/w over to a toddy style rig because I had almost everything on hand minus a butt pad. It has been great and I like it much more than BM. It may not be as good as a dedicated sm rig, but I don't have any complaints with it.
I don't know anything about the express tech or your...
I have a pair of ScubaPro XL jet fins with spring straps. I just got a drysuit and the boots are big and won't fit these fins.
I am not attached to the brand, but I would like to trade for a pair of similar style fins in XXL.
There has got to be someone out there with jet fins that are too...
Most of my 40 some odd dives have been in the 45-65fsw range, though I have made a few to 70-75fsw. I expect to go deeper as I continue to gain experience.
I don't think snuba would be the answer. I really like the idea of a compressor though, especially after hearing about some of the lower...
I really appreciate that. Like I said earlier in the post I don't really have the money right now because I am paying for earthwork and an electrician so I don't have an extra $500-$1000 to get it to Maine. Also I don't really want something that will take up a whole room.
I am truly thankful...
