You aren't missing anything. It's often extremely crowded with people picking them up and taking them out of the water for selfies. Not to mention using the time in the water for bio breaks. Imagine the harm that does to them over time.
I think I am where the "reported" came from (on TripAdvisor). Here's the pier being used for the first time in nearly 3 years !! with the beach loungers and umbrellas back. The oceanside restaurant plus the burger shack and la cevicheria are all open as well.
I'm not sure what you mean by this. You just pay for air? Versus what? We've stayed at seven AI resorts on the island and would never recommend using the onsite dive ops. They are volume based ops (mostly cattle boats) and there are so many better options available that will pick you up and drop...
I'd be interested in your take after your stay at El Presidente. The biggest selling point, to me, is that there's an actual beach (albeit a fairly small one) while there isn't one at Palace. Unless you are using points, I suspect that you are going to end up paying double vs. what you'd pay at...
Or use an dive op like Sharky's or Dive with Martin that includes gear (excluding wetsuits and computers) in their pricing?
Agreed. We felt the same and wouldn't use them. I'll take a 6 or 8 pack small fast boat every time.
Right?
As a Canadian, I got a Telcel sim (physical) years ago and keep it active by putting 20 pesos on it every 6 months if we're not down there. We get absolutely screwed on roaming in Mexico (like $10 / day).
I saw that! And said to myself, I guess that's where it goes when the dumpsters are full lol. I was more thinking about the mainland during peak sargassum season. They must have opened up new areas in the jungle just to dump the stuff.
Right? Imagine the protest strategies all those boats could employ - blocking the marina, block the cruise ship piers... They could make the taxi protests look mild by comparison.
I took a look first thing this morning and did a slow whistle. At least this is kinda rare for the west side. Imagine having to do that almost every day, all spring & summer on the mainland. Where do they dump it all?
I was trying to keep both groups in sight and act as a 'bridge' between shark chaser and the DM. When it became apparent to me that I was going to lose sight of either the DM & my wife, or the shark chaser, I chose my wife.
