    Twenty-two minutes of humility

A lot of hate for the poor fusion. I don’t think it’s that bad. The main drawbacks of the suit is donning/doffing the suit and the fact that it takes ages to dry (especially the bullet skin). But other than that it’s quite a comfortable suit to dive, and very durable. So give it some time...

Securing A Rebreather In A Vehicle

I’ve used three ways depending on car. 1. Putting it sideways in the boot, and the rest of the boot to the side of the RB propping it up making it unable to move. 2. Strapping it to the isofix top tether on the seatback. 3. Putting it in the backseat with the seat belt holding it in place...

Teric not Accepted as Primary Dive Computer?

Exactly which course is it? Specifically barring the Teric sounds like claptrap. As far as I know it runs the same software as the perdix and petrel (which are my backup and main computer respectively).

Ice diving thread (who is doing it?)

Absolutely. I’ve diving is fun. Though the preparations less so. I’ve yet to ice dive my CCR. Might try this season. With a drysuit, attached dryhood and FFM it’s not that cold. Added bonus, being completely dry after the dive makes it a lot more pleasant.

Lake Iso Melkutin fatality - Finland

May he Rest In Peace. It’s an easy dive spot. Quite easy to navigate, no currents or such. Last time I was there; the lines drawn at the bottom were quite orderly too. I can’t help but wonder if there’s more than getting stuck on the lines involved. Like a medical emergency. Maybe some of...

DCI and the perils of diving in a mixed EAN/Air Group

Great replies by both RyanT and doctor Mike. I’m glad you got away with skin bends only. I very much like to add conservatism to my deco/dive plan(there’s no such thing as no decompression dives in my book). So more times than not, I’ll increase conservatism if I do repeated dives or have...

Why are there so few drysuits made from rubber?

Thank you for a very informative post. Really intriguing to read. I almost forgot about Aquala. They have a really cool vintage look, however, I wonder how they'd work for tech diving (ie, needing a p-valve, pockets, etc). Well, I don't see how durability would be a downside? I dive a lot...

Why are there so few drysuits made from rubber?

This days the drysuit market seems dominated by trilam drysuits. A couple of decades ago, vulcanized drysuits seemed to be the norm. That made me wonder. Why are there so few drysuits for non commercial diving available made from rubber these days? To me, they offer some advantages over...

    Tech fins?

For me tech fins are durable, easy to put on, and befitting of the purpose of the dive. For me, that means spring straps is a must. Fins with integrated foot pockets are out, because of their lack of comfort (as opposed to 'regular' fins that fits over your boots). Other than that, it depends on...

Managing loop volume with a full face mask

I’m not sure where I stand on the half mask/FFM on CCR issue yet. I like the comfort of diving with a FFM On OC(and feel comfortable bailing to a half mask), but don’t use it for tech diving. The draw on CCR would be being shielded from the cold water (doing a lot of cold water dives), and the...

Managing loop volume with a full face mask

Thanks a lot for your reply. The KM48 seems like a good mask for CCR. Do you use a BOV or just remove the ‘pod’ for bailout? I’ve only had experience with the divator so far of the FFMs that I know of being used with CCR. But I think I’d prefer the 48 for redundancy, rather than adding another...

Managing loop volume with a full face mask

I’m not a CCR diver yet, I’ve only ever tried the JJ on a try dive with a half mask. I know that some people use a full face mask with their CCR for the added safety in case of oxygen toxicity or hypoxia. However, I’ve yet to understand how excess loop volume is handled with a full face mask...
