Every diver is different - and every dive operator
I recently was scolded by a DM for taking my mask off my face (all the way off - not on top of my head) when I surfaced. I ignored him the first few times assuming he would leave me alone eventually - what he did not know was that I was wearing...
saw several sharks in Brac while we were there in July - at Tarpon Alley - In and Out
also on GC at the Aquarium South
best shark sighting ever for me is Mata Canyons... but that is in Belize on the Meso-American Reef
you absolutely can order custom made lenses for whatever mask you prefer - or for the masks that the company sell - Sea Life USA i think - about 185 bucks each - they say 8 to 10 days processing time - it's been less for me all three times I've ordered
the ONLY issue with prescription dive...
I bought the AquaLung i500 ONLY because of the huge display
I wear a 2.5 bifocal and have a prescription mask custom made with my eyeglass prescription (not as pricey as you'd think it would be - about 185 bucks - even with the bifocal) - it works
but having said all of that - I could read...
Yeah - not really complaining about CI immigration- actually our lines on initial arrival to GCM at 3pm on a Saturday weren't bad - about half an hour through customs - grab bags - walk a long way out of the airport - around the parking lot and back in to check in with Cayman Airways to get to...
there were at least three flights from Brac to Grand on the day we travelled - which admittedly was a Saturday
and also traffic from Little to Grand
I'd imagine around 100 to 150 people most days, anyway - more on the weekends
flight to Brac was FULL - from Brac not quite but it was a 737
I have precheck and do that with my adult kids all the time - generally have a glass or wine or bloody mary while waiting on them:-) - just cannot bring myself to do it to my 84 year old mom - who still doesn't understand why she doesn't automatically get pre-check even though she never applied...
I do - the mobile stations were 'not in use' when we came through Atlanta - most of the folks on our flight missed any connections they had - we did not - I always plan at least four hours when needing to go through customs - we just barely made ours....
my next travel thing is to get Global...
I will say this - IF the airport is not finished next time I go, I will do everything in my power to fly directly into Brac and do customs there - when we flew from Brac back to GCM the customs lines were out the door - and there was not good signage about what to do/where to go - lucky my...
a 'few' gifts for sale at food counter - nothing to write home about - MUCH more available in Brac than inside security at GCM
but no - no actual gift shop at present - my understanding is that they are letting bids for vendors for the new airport - looks like it will be great when finished -...
Reef Divers in Brac were awesome - there was my family and one other extended/multi-generational family on the boat - two dive masters - beautiful diving - would return to Brac for sure
we are about two hours east of Mtn Home - Lake Norfork is where I was certified -
personally I prefer the tropics - but it is a place to blow bubbles
just by the way - I am also a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan - have the bird on a bat tattooed on the top of my left foot
Like I said - there are plusses and minuses both ways
I really liked the smaller groups on Red Sail - I would say they are probably better geared towards less experienced divers (like me and my family)
We liked both resorts... I think Cobalt Coast is nice - really liked the outdoor dining and being able to actually order off of a menu for dinner - felt more 'vacation' than nightly buffets - don't ask why.
Son said that CC felt more 'claustrophobic' that Brac - I think what he means is that it...
We have been diving with Red Sail and with Reef Divers - both extremely professional outfits with plusses and minuses
Red Sail -
pros: they are big boats but never crowded - I actually like more space and appreciated the bigger boats - also hubby tends to have a bit of mal de mar and the...
If I read it correctly, it is 20 bucks per bag for number one and two (40 bucks total) - and they did significantly reduce excess baggage fees - which if you end up on one of the twin otters could be substantial.
also if I read correctly this is for international flights only - still two free...
just there one week ago - as is stated above, still not great - we did find places to sit, but very uncomfortable chairs - which was fine for us but not so much for my 84 year old mom
it does LOOK like it is gonna be awesome - we actually did eat and drink in the outside area after checking our...
We just returned from a trip to the Caymans - stayed one week at Cayman Brac Beach Resort and four days at Cobalt Coast.
First thing to know - Reef Divers is a great operation - they will spoil you, though by doing everything for you, including setting dive computer to Nitrox
We flew from...
