Trip Report Blue Ribbon - Anilao Diving (Batangas)

I'm a little late to the party here, but I concur. Jon is a great guy, and Blue Ribbon is a well run establishment.

Any advice on an extremely short trip

I think if you're already in the region, a short trip to Anilao is very feasible. It's really only a cost-analysis question, which is rather subjective. Beyond that, 4 nights in PH, as follows, is certainly workable... Day one - Arrive in Manila and travel to Anilao (easy), and maybe squeeze in...

    Capt'n Gregg's burned

According to their Facebook page, they opened in late April or early May, just after I was in PG at LaLaguna Beach Club. Ton-Ton, at 50 Bar, was telling me back then that Cap'n Gregg's was quickly rebuilding, and nearly finished. I suppose he was correct! Cap'n Gregg's is a staple of PG, and On-On!

Renewal went through on Paypal but not showing up here...

I also renewed via PayPal as Supporter (39.95). Whenever an admin can get around to it is fine. I wish PayPal had a better system in place for forums, but I don't blame the SB staff at all :thumb:

    Scubapro GO Sport

Certainly there is no harm in giving it a go in the GoSports, but might be a good idea to have a std pair of Jet Fin, or similar with more weight, on standby. I agree with @-JD- regarding heavier fins to compensate for other buoyant components in the overall system, and also agree that not all...

What kind of mounts are people using?

I also use a cheap, yet surprisingly well made, two handled tray. It's a bit negatively buoyant, but not enough to matter to me. If I ever add lights, I would add some floats, but would still keep it ever so slightly negative. I have one of those 1/4-20 to GoPro mounts, with an intermediate...

    Indonesian Bathroom Hygiene Practices?

Hahaha, perfect timing on posting that pic. My favorite local pub, here in Philippines, just put that sign up in the CR (rest room).

    Dive Video Data Overlay

Yes, it seems as though the issue is either Cell Format or an issue between exporting the data from the logging software and importing to Excel. I've started a DM and will continue to troubleshoot there. We can then add the solution to this thread for others, should anyone else encounter a...

    Dive Video Data Overlay

Can you send me a DM with screen shots of your Gauge Edit window and your data headers? I'll see if there's anything I can do to help. You're right though, I ran around in circles the first few times too....

    Advice on Philippines Itinerary

Totally. But don't get me wrong, I think at this time, I think it's mutually beneficial for the resort and the guests. Get it while it lasts if a person is able. Worth mentioning, during my stay over there, we only went "off resort" one night (dinner at Tamarind and drinks at 50 Bar [yo...

    Advice on Philippines Itinerary

Totally, the tides can make or break dives in the Verde Island Passage. We could have dived earlier in the day, or evening, and had near slack tide, but whatever, we were on vacation..... LOL. I wouldn't say there were a LOT of divers around, but definitely signs that visitor attendance is...

    Advice on Philippines Itinerary

We only did a few dives, as most of our group were non-divers, there to socialize and relax. The conditions were overall favorable. Decent viz, great temps (28*c). Our mid-day dives were ill timed for the tides/current, blasted through West Escarceo from end to end in about 30 mins. Later, we...

    Advice on Philippines Itinerary

Maria is a great guide and fantastic diver. Highly recommend her for anyone staying at El Galeon. @Centrals I just returned from 4 nights in PG at La Laguna Beach Club (Big La Laguna beach, a bit beyond El Galeon) and there were absolutely no requirements to travel between Manila and PG via...

    Dive Video Data Overlay

There are guides on their website which cover creating custom "gauges" and mapping the source data to particular display fields. I apologize for not going deeper into that portion, but would have also made the guide much longer. If you've recreated a dive computer in DashWare, it would be great...

    Filter Results

I am using the Flip 7 filter holder. I had to file away a tiny bit of material on the inside of the "bezel clamp", but made it work no problem. I would think it should work on a real GP housing, even with my little modification. For what it's worth, I primarily use the "shallow" dive filter...
