Dive club for a Londoner ?

Sounds brilliant. I’m going to get in touch with both Hellfins and Argonauts clubs today (they both meet in Victoria, just across the river from me) and take it from there! Thanks again Kat

Dive club for a Londoner ?

Brilliant - many thanks for the info. It wasn’t totally clear from my google searches where the OWD fitted into the BSAC structure so that’s really good to know.

Dive club for a Londoner ?

Fantastic - thanks! I’ll have a search on there too. But on the location alone, Hellfins might be the one for me. Am really interested in doing some further training - have to admit I had no idea about the BSAC courses, but they look really good. Presumably a decent club will advise on the...

Dive club for a Londoner ?

Hello - I’ve been diving almost 2 years now (almost all Cayman-based) but now we are settled back in London I’m wondering if there is a dive club here that I could join? Would be great to start learning how to dive in cold water (weekend trips to south coast/Cornwall etc?) and also just to meet...

Planning June, 2018 Trip to GC - Suggestions?

This is why the Economist’s Big Mac exchange rate table is so useful! Unfortunately Cayman deliberately does not have a McDonalds (only Burger King, easily found next to Cheeseburger Reef dive site)

Planning June, 2018 Trip to GC - Suggestions?

(Should say, I haven’t stayed at TNI myself but family stayed there when visiting us on island. They liked it. The beach is not quite as accessible as 7MB - there is some seaweed, rocks, etc as well as the typical white sand...)

Planning June, 2018 Trip to GC - Suggestions?

Hi saboteur - it’s a really good question. I’ve had fantastic times at the Reef Resort (next door to Morritts) but how much we use the beach itself is quite dependent on the weather (specifically the wind!). When we were there last week conditions were perfect - for both Diving and...

Planning June, 2018 Trip to GC - Suggestions?

We went out with White Sand Water Sports (East End, based at the Wyndham Reef resort) and it was just us two and the two members of staff on the boat! I think the max they take is 8, and it’s a full “valet” service :) Am sure there will be lots of other recommended ones like this too - good luck!

Shore dives and other activities Grand Cayman

Also forgot to mention, Da Fish Shack in GT is a fun waterside spot for lunch/dinner/sunset watching. Also SouthWest Collective for coffee (in Harbour Place, just across from Paradise. Grab a coffee and then go watch the Tarpon by the ladder freak out the cruise shippers!)

Shore dives and other activities Grand Cayman

Hello - sorry I’m not sure how to link to a post I made on a similar thread, but I just wrote out some of my “must do”s and wondered if they’d help you too? Happy travels! Planning June, 2018 Trip to GC - Suggestions?

Planning June, 2018 Trip to GC - Suggestions?

Hi 500 PSI we have just returned from the Wyndham Reef Resort, right next door! The dive conditions were awesome :). 1000RR: i would definitely +1 Spotts beach, and Cemetery beach, for snorkelling. Personally I would avoid the Turtle Farm (I’m really unsure about the conditions those turtles...

Learnt to dive while an expat wife in Cayman :)

Hehe thanks Mi000ke, we certainly have discovered Macabuca! They used to do amazing fish tacos and ice cream sandwiches :). I only did the shore dive there once (in a strong current and relatively poor visibility) but i’d love to do it again in slightly better conditions. I browse CIREBA’s...

Learnt to dive while an expat wife in Cayman :)

Thanks Schwob :) Both locations are awesome, but very different! I would highly recommend diving the Ligurian coast if you’re into huge Moray Eels! I’d never seen anything like it. Cayman has a much more obvious tropical aquarium vibe...

Learnt to dive while an expat wife in Cayman :)

We first lived on Cayman for just 6 months back in 2015. We loved it, and our son was young enough, so we went back for a further 9 month secondment the next year. That second time I decided to see what all the fuss about scuba diving was about :) As much as I love Cayman, there is little to do...
