    Tulum shops & accommodations?

Thinking about a very quick tulum trip, though a bit nervous w/ the cenotes. Just a rec diver (AOW/nitrox), not looking for tech/cave/deco dives. 1. Favorite shop? I've seen ProTec come up on here quite a bit but they are older threads. Not sure of current state of things. 2. Good budget...

Any chance to see a Peregrine Ai?

Seems highly unlikely, but Shearwater also told me at one point there was zero chance they'd ever make a lower end model of their Perdix without all the tech support and just a good screen because all of their research was put into the software. Surprise! They made the Peregrine :)

    Peregrine zippered case question

This is just a dumb solution. Even with the foam out, (a) it doesn't really fit properly and you have to crush the band down awkwardly, and (2) you'd lose additional inner padding when doing so. The case is simply the wrong size to store the peregrine with a band on it, which is the default...

Alternative case for Peregrine? (no band disassembly)

Have a Shearwater Peregrine, but find the included padded case ridiculous. Once you attach the wristband to it, the screws are threadlocked on, and even Shearwater mentions you shouldn't disassemble more than 5x or so because of this without re-applying more threadlock. However, the Peregrine...

Trip Report Turquoise Bay Resort, Subway Water Sports, Bent in Roatan

This was the same case for arriving back through IAH (Houston). Fast global entry but then general security line which pretty much negated it.

    Peregrine zippered case question

This is a weird case. I'm not sure if all are like this, but the foam insert also just has like a semi-sticky substance that attaches the top half of it (computer) to the bottom half (charger+tools). I bought "new" off ebay so not sure if it's missing anything, but felt like a weird case insert...

    Peregrine zippered case question

OK, So this is a dumb question, and I assume I know the answer, but it feels a bit annoying: The zippered case that the peregrine comes with is obviously meant to fit the shearwater computer with the wrist strap not attached. After every trip am I expected to unscrew/disassemble the strap and...

Decision on ending trip early - ear inflammation - thoughts?

I know.. I pretty much already decided I'm not diving anymore =/ Guess just kind of bummed out and hoping some doc on here might have better news lol.

Decision on ending trip early - ear inflammation - thoughts?

Yup, I definitely know to equalize early before even feeling pressure. I was descending pretty rapidly though on this dive, prob let a bit too much air out of my BCD at once and didn't get enough equalization in on the way down. Next time need to more gently deflate and hold myself every few...

Decision on ending trip early - ear inflammation - thoughts?

Now i’m just wondering how sketchy it will be to fly with them like this in 2-3 days

Decision on ending trip early - ear inflammation - thoughts?

This is the way I'm strongly leaning if it wasn't obvious from the first post. Just because even if they are "OK" in 5-6 days i feel Iike i'd just end up irritating them again.

Ah ya, I guess even after an incident I'd be hesitant to fly!

Decision on ending trip early - ear inflammation - thoughts?

In Roatan now with a flight departing next Saturday (9 days from now). After 6 dives, my right ear started acting up. Not sure if it was just the number of dives, or if equalization on my last dive wasn't sufficient on a quick descent down during a night dive. Saw a local clinic who gave me...

In Roatan now (9/7 - 9/18), anyone want to grab food/drinks?

Good question! I decided to take your advice and do some more fun dives. I talked to a few shops around here with playing around with weighting and just getting more comfortable. A GUE instructor here did offer to do a tech basics course for $300, but it just felt like a bit much and too...

Trip Report Turquoise Bay Resort, Subway Water Sports, Bent in Roatan

The Roatan FB group has a good guide for these entry/exit forms with translations and explanations of each field. Maybe I'll grab a copy and upload it here. Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1106207316182308 It's under "files" in the top nav

How soon after the chamber ride was the doc giving you guys the OK to fly home? Just one hour session in it?

In Roatan now (9/7 - 9/18), anyone want to grab food/drinks?

Traveling through Roatan and it would be cool to meet some locals or other scubaboard members. I'm in west end right now, but possibly headed to west bay in a couple of days as well. Open to food or light drinks (don't drink too much on diving trips)

Anyone going to Roatan? Looking for dive buddies or deals

Thanks for the wall of text Doc :) I'm definitely willing to pay for some expert time. I actually did an AOW a while back so went through one buoyancy dive as part of that. Generally agree though that I've just gotten a lot more comfortable as I've added more dives. I don't expect any miracles...

Anyone going to Roatan? Looking for dive buddies or deals

Fair point - I mostly just want a really competent diver/good teacher to beat some fundamentals into me better than a PADI course. Want someone to look at my frog kick technique, learn to better fin pivot (I don't think I really know how to do this right), and clean up trim. Also wouldn't mind...

    Peregrine screen protector - preinstalled?

Dumb question, I just bought a Peregrine from an online dive shop and it included a 'replacement screen' protector. On the new Peregrine there is a decorative cover I can peel off. However, I'm not 100% sure if there is already a protector installed underneath? I think I see a very thin...
