It was a good idea, i just don't think its necessary. Plus i plan to do some courses with a DIR style agency called ISE (Inner space explorers), and i know they won't permit me to use them.
You mean on the waist portion of the harness?
I could do that, i guess. but i think it would make it a little more uncomfortable.
That's a great point about the DSMB, i already have one i carry that is linked together as a spool/dsmb combo but i'm no good at deploying it, so i will practice...
Thanks for sharing. I think i'll hold off on the quick releases for now. The point is that the adjustable loops i have right now don't allow for easy repositioning, so if i were to try to take my harness off it doesen't make it any easier - compared to if i didn't have the adjustable loops...
I don't plan to ever get in a situation where i would need to ditch my weights, but as we all know sometimes things can happen unexpectedly. The reason why i have opted to put all my weight on the backplate is because 1, i dont plan on ditching it, but mostly because i find wearing a weight belt...
Iv'e just bought the plastic sliders i linked below, i think the difference is (other than the possibility they could be felt on your back) that the harness can be moved easily in any position, with the metal type i have currently it requires you to pull the webbing downwards to adjust it, which...
Maybe i'm being too cautious and should just go for a genuine trilobite, and practice getting in and out of my rig.
Ahhh decisions decisions.
I really like the idea of the cold water diverite Z knife because it has an easy-to-grab handle, more so than the trilobite, but i don't want the huge...
Yes its a DIR style harness, I already have the Agir brok adjustable harness things, never saw the T slider's until i just googled it and found the 'subgravity harness slider 2.0', the plastic t sliders actually look like a better idea as they won't dig into your back. Might have to check them...
It's paranoia from my part, having only recently switched to a BP/Wing, Iv'e gone from using a weight belt to having my own custom setup that's bolted all my weights onto the back plate, thus making them non-ditch able.
I had 12-18 months out of the water without diving once due to coronavirus...
Narrowed down my choices to either a genuine trilobite, or a diverite Z line cutter with big handle, so can be grabbed even with big gloves, although its to go on my waist harness so im not sure if i want something so big and bulky there.
May just get both and do a cutting test and dive test...
What do you recommend?
I want to be able to cut myself out my own harness, should i ever need to. With something that would be easy to grab with dry gloves on, and would cut through the webbing in one quick swipe - in a panic situation.
Just did some testing on some tow rope webbing i have, similar to diving webbing but a little thicker.
The trilobite was crap, until the webbing was pulled tight and i pulled very hard on it, not ideal if i was in a panic situation.
When it did finally bite into it though it sliced through it...
Another thing i didn't mention, that i have just thought of... The 'trilobite' i have, was a 10 bucks ebay chinese special. Not a genuine unit.
It's definitely very sharp though, maybe i should try a genuine one?
Hi guys
I already have a small DIRZONE knife that is on my waist harness but im looking for another that has the characteristics i have listed below.. i tried an eezycut trilobite and to my dismay it was unable to easy slice through my 2" webbing. I want a knife that i can rely on to cut me out...
