I got certified in Folsom. The viz isn't all that great. I was at Browns Ravine. Don't know if any of the other sites would be better, although I have seen some good viz videos on YouTube.
Has anyone been to Zephyr Cove recently? I'll be going up there for a retreat with a church in my area and wanted to know what the conditions were.
Thinking of renting some tanks and weights and maybe diving under the docks or something where it's pretty shallow.
If I go, probably not... I would think that long pants would be a good protection as well, but I've heard that they are only at the beach... We'll see... I've still gotta make up my mind.
Good to know. I'll be going with a local dive shop, so I think we'll be at the resort, That's of course, if I decide to go. Wanted to get some general information from others outside the shop, so that I would get information that they wouldn't really tell me. I didn't want to go with what they had.
Thanks. Thought I would answer both of your posts here.
The trip is with a local dive shop and not on my own, and it's scheduled for the end of June. That's good to know about the equipment, only thing is, with the Noseeums and sand fleas around there, I think I'd want to have my dive skin...
I was just wondering about how things work over there. From what I gather, unlike CCV, it's not a diver's only resort, so there are things for non-divers to do there as well. I also hear that its one that picks up folks off of the pier for Cruise Ships. Maybe this is more recent stuff, so things...
I've got an opportunity to go to this resort on Roatan but wanted to find out from the community here what they thought about it, if any had been there?
Thanks!
I think in the case of the cleanup that happens in Avalon on Catalina island, it's also heavy with Boat traffic, so in order to stop the accidents, they don't allow diving to happen there.
Yes, I was.. I was with a group from Dolphin Scuba Center from Sacramento. I was with the group that was around the Tables near the grass area.
These dives for me though were to get some ocean experience, as I had already went through the certification process. I got certified at the Local Mud...
I was there last weekend.
Glenn's Aquarius II isn't open anymore. Many of us went to Breakwater Scuba on Cannery Row (next to Backscatter), to get our tanks filled. If you park near the wall, that also means you'll have quite a trek to take your tanks after getting them filled.
That was the...
Yo finnagain... I was just in Monterey myself, getting some ocean experience this weekend. Had a blast!
Welcome to the board... and to a lifestyle that is also rather addicting, and can get expensive.
Currently I live in a town on the Sacramento River Delta that is about 1/2 hour south of...
Went to Breakwater cove for 4 dives over two days with a Shop out of Sacramento. The primary reason why was because I was originally certified in a local lake to the area, and hadn't gotten any ocean experience yet. It had also been a while since I had any dives in, so I thought I would also do...
I say open it up... That way if people, say from either area might actually check things out more - especially if maybe they are planning a trip to a certain location - in either part of the state.
I think opening it up like the Florida one would be a great idea.
I'm from Norcal, but I am...
Thanks... I'll be out there tomrrow and at first site, it didn't look to good, but that was coming in on Highway 1... the first beach there looked like the waves were pretty high. But it's also windy here in Monterey.
@Dzydvl33 , I'll be at the Breakwater in Monterey going through a refresher and getting some ocean experience myself. I recently picked up this package at my LDS. I paid a little extra for a different computer, and all seemed to perform well in the pool.
