What's the craziest thing you ever found?

It only sunk that day. I was sending up scuba units with bc's attached, it all went back to the customers. My buddy owned the boat.

What's the craziest thing you ever found?

I've found a $50 bill under the reef once. One spot in Maine, found a new pole spear and a new weight belt with like 34 lbs of lead. Put the belt on and figured I would crawl to shore. Went another 40 feet and found an identical pole spear and weightbelt. Also have found a brand new...

My Wife is finally giving Scuba a try - what can I do to help her succeed?

I think.. with all those physical challenges that she has, the best way to support her is to encourage her to stay active and exercise so she can continue to dive and enjoy it safely.

What's the craziest thing you ever found?

found one too under a bridge one day. I generally bring my random treasures home, but no way I was taking THAT! It still had a bar code sticker on the bottom!

Snorkeling 1st time off of a boat

People are probably making a bigger deal out of this than it needs to be. Just pop your head up every minute or two and look for the boat. If you are getting too far, swim to the boat or start yelling. A whistle is not such a bad idea. Snorkeling with a beacon for the first time off a boat...

    Transfill whip math

Don't sweat the math. Typically you will not have a drained pony bottle - usually just a little low. If it is empty, you can first whip from a used tank and get a few hundred psi, then go to the full tank for top off. The HP 100 should start at 3500 psi, hopefully. If you are smart you...

    Building a Pony

I prefer to look at it as a means to learn. People should be able to defend their configuration in a logical manner. Almost ANY configuration can be defended because people have different priorities. If your priorities are different, then the end result is often different. I think a 19 cu-ft...

    Scuba Works in Jupiter

Two boat voachers. Does that mean two free trips on your boat in the future? Do the newly certified customers get any special guidance on their first boat dive(s) since they have never been in the ocean?

    Building a Pony

I think I would prefer a 90 clockwise turn of the upside down bottle.

    Building a Pony

Why is the tank in that position? How will the hoses be routed? Is that the best rotational angle within the mount? Are you sure you have the best access to the tank valve when the regulator is placed on the pony?

    No mask, no reg swim

That is pretty good. I hate practicing static breathhold, so I pretty much never do it. However, a better dry practice is to walk and count steps. I can (usually) do 25 strides (counting each left leg extension) during a casual walk. Learning to do breathold when doing an activity is more...

Attaching a torch/flashlight to your BCD so you can use it but not drop it.

Turn it on before you unclip it. Don't drop it. Those are my answers, if you are really worried about it, I kinda like the idea of a dedicated elastic on your wrist. That seems like a really good accommodation to me.

Attaching a torch/flashlight to your BCD so you can use it but not drop it.

I just use the bolt snap. I thought about a loop, but that is an entanglement hazard hanging off your chest. I have unclipped a light and set it down and swam away - never to be seen again. So I think there are trade offs with whatever you do. If you are night diving, or diving in dark...

    Full Body Rash Guard?

You would think so, but not. As long as you periodically wet the dive skin, it will be evaporating water and the cooling effect is significant and it is less hot than having your skin directly exposed to direct sunshine. In my experience anyway. I like the two piece option since it is easier...

Ethanol ain't so safe either. This kind of betrayal has to leave a sour taste.

Issues with Deep 6 First Stage

Did you check the inlet of the first stage - the filter- and makes sure it is not blocked with crap from a nasty Cozumel tank? Have you checked the intermediate pressure? I, personally would rent a regulator before diving deeper than 20 feet with a regulator that is clearly performing...

    No mask, no reg swim

I would think you should use a flutter kick - to get there. I would practice snorkeling with the jet fins and try to do several fast 50 yard swims in the pool. this should improve your technique and will result in strengthening eventually. Breathing from the snorkel. Then (on the same day)...

Maintaining Neutral Buoyancy w/ Proper Trim with Weights Only (for pool/snorkeling/spearfishing)

If you are in a freshwater pool, not wearing a wetsuit and not massively obese.. Then you should need a very modest amount of lead to be neutral at a depth of a few feet. An elastic freedive belt should work and if you get vinyl covered hard weights. I would assume that the total amount of...

    Used Regulator Purchase (Help)

If that regulator works as is, it will probably continue to do so for a while. When you test it, take a bucket, fill it with water and stick all the "ends" in the water to look for leaks. Some tiny leaks would not be a deal killer, but it might be a little price leverage. That is a good deal.
