Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

@gcarter fails to comprehend that decreased vision in low light condition is not in any way related to "dark adaptation" which is the gradual process that occurs as prevailing light decreases, during which time visual demand is shifted from the cones which are found in the central retina and are...

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

You are confusing decreased vision in low light conditions with dark adaptation. Two very separate and distinct entities.

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

You are confusing "poor vision in low light" with "dark adaptation" which are not the same thing. Don't believe me? Google it.

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

You sir, are confusing bifocals with trifocals with progressive multifocals. They are three distinct and different entities. As the prefix "bi" indicates, a bifocal has 2 distinct lens areas, a "tri" focal has 3 distinct lens areas and a "multi" focal has an infinite number of focal points-...

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

That's a separate issue that has nothing to do with dark adaption, it has to do with blur and distortion because when there is less ambient light, the pupil becomes larger than the zone that was treated by the refractive surgery.

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

There is no such thing as a blended invisible trifocal. As I posted earlier, it does not exist. You quote me and say I'm wrong and then you post about blended invisible bifocals. Trifocals and bifocals are not the same thing.

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

@lowvis let me ask you a question. If you were to wear a red coat when you go outside, and 7 of those 10 times it rains, would you conclude that people who wear red coats outdoors are more likely to get rained on? I think you would. Because the statistics prove (to you) that you're much more...

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

As I have clearly explained in my post above, the statistics cited in the study do not in any way, shape or form, give any credibility whatsoever to the statement that "children can be trained to constrict their pupils, as a result of the pupillary constriction they can see better underwater".

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

This next post may be my last post of 2017, and it just might be the longest. There are several misconceptions regarding the published study, and I will do my best to clarify for those who are less experienced in this particular subject. The human eye has an evolutionary process that allows a...

    My boots ruined my wetsuit

It's serious. Excessive wetsuit bootie piss volume issues almost ended my diving career and also detracted from the experience of other vacation divers when I emptied them onto the boat deck.

    My boots ruined my wetsuit

Oh, I totally get your point, the piss will likely stay along the diver's leg rather than traveling between the outside of the boot and inside of the wetsuit leg, regardless of trim position unless of course you happen to be "foot high" in which case the results could be rather unfortunate.

    My boots ruined my wetsuit

Excellent point about the natural flow of urine within the confines of a wetsuit/bootie combination, I admit that never occurred to me. On my next dive trip I'm going to make it happen and after all these years of intentionally placing the leggings over my booties to avoid such a problem I sure...

    My boots ruined my wetsuit

You think post dive bootie piss volume is equivalent regardless of whether the wetsuit is over or inside the booties?

    My boots ruined my wetsuit

More importantly at the end of the dive you don't have booties full of piss.

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

Most of your post is correct, I'll only comment on the error. The lens only provides a small percentage of the refractive power of the human eyeball. Most of it is due to the cornea.

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

What I said was cheap reading glasses and rx reading glasses do not provide the depth of field available with multifocals. Performing tasks that involve alternate focusing on things that are close and far do NOT "preserve vision". The loss of focusing ability as we age, known as presbyopia, is...
