Anti-Fogging Treatments for New Masks. (a comparison of techniques)

I used Turps. Needed a few washes afterwards to get rid of the smell.

Cancelled/postponed trips due to COVID - please share your outcomes

I guess it's not too surprising, and is similar to what on the flip-side us divers are doing/sharing on SB; to attempt to try and arrive at a reasonable outcome. But hopefully the Indonesian Liveaboard Association doesn't cave into LOB owners who've spent a while making good profits who are...

    Diving in Australia in June

Australia is working from home. The Govt is paying businesses and many affected individuals. It says a lot about Mike Ball (the company) when they behave like this. None of it being good.

Teric not Accepted as Primary Dive Computer?

How so? I suspect you might be thinking that the comment could be saying to look at that difference in preference to (or to heavily influence) Stop depths? I assumed that the range (30-40) would be something that aligned with Stop depths. Especially given the perceived calibre of the person...

Cancelled/postponed trips due to COVID - please share your outcomes

That’s good to hear. But ... not a pleasant ordeal to go through. For me, that’s enough to have them on my ‘avoid’ list. My rescheduled May Tubbataha trip might be more complicated than I first thought. No names mentioned yet ...

Teric not Accepted as Primary Dive Computer?

re display Q: I think the "display" issue was merely due to the inability to display a modified GFHi. re GF99 and SurfGF: A Tec Instructor recently said to me about comparing GF99 and SurfGF upon assent, and that one would want that difference to be in the 30-40 range for efficient offgassing...

    Diving in Australia in June

Not sure if you've seen it but in other threads there are cases where the booking agent is trying to rip-off the client but the actual dive op is not ripping-off the agent. Not doubting your message but here's an earlier offical announcement in this thread from Mike Ball D.C: Covid-19...

    Garmin Descent MK2

I hope I’m not excessively drunk on the Sher-Aid ... but ... I have to say SurfGF is such a powerful feature. Also SW deserve kudos for the innovation, and for their future innovations via free FW updates.

Cancelled/postponed trips due to COVID - please share your outcomes

Assuming the above is correct: 60% towards a future trip, that has another round of p&l attached to it - seems harsh. It’s not even a cash refund. they’re incurring no fuel cost (that must be at least 20%) of revenue, reduced staffing costs (some payments still), no food costs, etc and will...

Despite the warnings people traveled to XYZ and are now stuck. Who is responsible?

To mask or not is an interesting one. But contrast HK vs SGP; in SGP, as of 2 weeks ago, not many were wearing them. I asked the immigration officer if he was worried not wearing one. He wasn't (then). The only people that were wearing were service (taxis / uber drivers, food vendors etc)...

Despite the warnings people traveled to XYZ and are now stuck. Who is responsible?

I decided to fly to the Philippines (Subic Bay and then Coron was planned) and departed Melbourne on the 8th. Prior to that I made a thread about the stats in the Philippines FYI: Coronavirus tracker and Info - Philippines and there was nothing too alarming, The 'nothing too alarming' didn't...

Cancelled/postponed trips due to COVID - please share your outcomes

My (May) Tubbataha trip is now postponed to June with an option to reschedule for 2021. (It's my sole LOB this year ... I hope to be able to emulate you both @outofofficebrb and @Dan ... one day :) Dive Damai and Equator seem to be a bit quiet. Hopefully no news is good news.

Covid-19 (coronavirus) Updates - Liveaboard Cancellation Policy

Some ideas: 1/ Split your dive (boat) group into two and sell the residual vouchers over time. 2/ Keep your group together, but before you dive as a group, sell half of your vouchers (for any trip, any diver), then use those funds to pay for the other half of the trip. 3/ Sell the vouchers for...

Covid-19 (coronavirus) Updates - Liveaboard Cancellation Policy

No one knows how long this virus pain will last. The longer it does, the more likely LOBs will not survive, so for those LOBs giving us 100% (vouchers ..), they have a built-in assumption that the pain will be shorter than longer. That survival also depends on a LOBs fixed costs, access to...

Cancelled/postponed trips due to COVID - please share your outcomes

Do I have the current situation correct between Dive Damai and Equator: 1/ if the client has insurance use that first. 2/ if not, then receive a voucher - the value of which has fees and other costs deducted from it. I can see why confusion can happen around the process. For 2/ How much ($ or...

Covid-19 (coronavirus) Updates - Liveaboard Cancellation Policy

No one can argue that hard decisions are needing to be made between less than optimal choices. But when it comes to those decisions there also must be some reasonable balance, and hopefully the majority of operators get that right. In this case, 40% doesn't seem nearly inline with others, and...

Australia: it's strong: Consumer rights & guarantees As long as the entity you're facing is in OZ, you're all good. If it's offshore, that might be an issue.
