Rebreather Went out of breath at the end of a dive with on a CCR

Task loading could easily be a part of this leading to chest breathing, less than full ventilation etc., ascents are busy enough without the added issue of running manual on an ECCR, throw in a bit of sub optimal loop volume and I think you will find on another day with less stress and more...

Rebreather Went out of breath at the end of a dive with on a CCR

To the OP out of interest what unit are using and in what lung configuration. I dive a KISS Classic and I have to be very focused on good breathing discipline due to the BM counter lungs, which inc hydrostatic lung load. So long as I use my diaphragm to breathe in, it's all good, but I've had...

Question Classic Kiss change to have tank valves up

Also if your harness is too tight it can cause WOB issues from my experience. I've had my battles with WOB on my KC but it seems like if you concentrate on using the diaphragm to breathe the actual RB placement is less of a consideration.

Question Classic Kiss change to have tank valves up

Do you mean you can't reach the valves with the cylinders inverted (valves at bottom)? If so then you can drop them lower, mine sit well below the cut outs for the first stages for this reason. I use the jubliee bands and sometimes run 1.5l alis and they still sit low enough to reach the valves...

Discussion of best practices for advancing in cave diving (moved from A&I JB thread)

Without going too far ot how easy is it to top mount sm cyls, is the reduction in drag really that significant?

Discussion of best practices for advancing in cave diving (moved from A&I JB thread)

It's not uncommon to carry a safety/buddy bottle, I sometimes do this if solo or when guiding new divers, it doesn't get dropped and generally don't notice the extra drag enough for it to be an issue. Pretty sure 3rds originated from solo and flow based cave diving, so naturally in the presence...

AL40 vs Steel 50 for deco gas?

I've made normoxic 60-70m ow wreck dives with SM bottom mix and deco mix with 12l steels, but obviously you are balanced in that configuration, any other deco cylinders are then aluminium. I guess it depends on how you rig it and rest of configuration, back in the day it was perfectly normal to...

    UTD's New Sidemount Configuration

Not so sure about the sm set up, but in fairness I do think their podcasts are good, especially the obscure questions media.

Where do you carry your stage(s) and or deco in SM

I've settled on steel SM tanks on the hip d rings and stages on the drop ds but I use the "Gary Dallas" method of attaching them, where you clip the bottom leash with 1 hand first then pivot the front up, that way I don't have to wrestle my computer past the tanks.

How to differentiate muscle joint pain due to tiredness from being bent

Mine did, I elected to treat with o2 but not hyperbaric, and within circa 24 hours it abated. Obviously severity will affect safe resolution and longer term damage can't be ruled out if you don't get recompressed.

How to differentiate muscle joint pain due to tiredness from being bent

Personally, dcs pain was different from a muscular strain type pain. It's a nagging, deep, throb or ache, not dissimilar to tooth ache I guess. It also has a visceral quality to it that I can't fully describe, but maybe psychogenic due to the known origin.

Where do you carry your stage(s) and or deco in SM

So you reach between body and sm tank to clip to hip d ring?

    My hypoxic incident

Yeah I know, I'm just interested in the actual flow rate, generally cmf are set to circa 0.7 lpm which is roughly metabolic rate and is checked semi regularly by means of a Dwyer Gauge or similar, I'm just wondering if the actual flow rate with the blockage was measured.

    My hypoxic incident

I'm guessing once he had recovered enough he would have tested the unit, which was how he discovered the partially blocked orifice

    My hypoxic incident

Thanks for sharing. Did you measure the flow rate through the cmf after the dive?

Where do you carry your stage(s) and or deco in SM

So with a dir style rigging kit did you clip shoulder d ring and hip d ring, where your main cylinder is clipped? How snug was this?
