I have been diving Atlas blue/grey palms for years and love them because 1 they really can take a beating and 2 they are cheap. Then again it doesn't bother me if my hands are cold so long as my head and core stay warm.
I totally agree. I've worked on a live aboard for several seasons and it always shocks me how many people will say they've been diving for let's say 10+ years then follow up with their last dive was 9 years ago. Really makes me go "umm what?"
I use a U.K. C8 and find it to be an awesome light. However I'm only using it for catching bugs. If you're looking to do more penetration dives or cave dives it's probably not the light for you.
I've never done one either however like any new diy project I'd prefer to have someone show me how's it's done first or at very least YouTube the task at hand a bunch. It's always more statifying to me to know that I was the one who did the job.
