Their Facebook page said they had some good news about the septic field. The guy behind it was also on the UTD Scuba Diving podcast (episode #11) a few weeks ago and provided some background on the project.
Jumping on this thread, I'm taking my scout troop to Islamorada in mid August. Heard from one troop that it might be a bad time for jellyfish, heard from a different troop that it's not a problem. Any thoughts from those in the know?
(We're also very excited for the lobsters!)
I was at Phoenix the previous weekend. Do your waivers online then look for the online store on their website to pre-pay the tanks and entrance. You get a tank at the entrance when you sign in, and when that one is done you bring it back and they give you a full one.
Were you already signed up with SSI? I signed up this morning and all I see is some intro courses. SSI's website lists OW as a pre-requisite for this course, and since I didn't do my OW through SSI they've got no idea who I am.
I emailed my local SSI dive shop and he told me to sign up on the...
Congratulations! Have you considered renting gear for the first little while until you figure out what it is you like? Buy your own mask and fins, and rent the rest until you know what it is you like. If price is a factor then used gear might be a way to go, and for that it really helps for you...
The instructor that trained my son (13 at the time) and I told us he still used his Junior card and not to worry about getting a new card when my son turned 15.
Yea, and if you want there should be a filter to only show the Divesoft file extensions. I'm just going on what I saw in the code and docs; it's looking for a file to read in vs talking to a dive computer over the libdivecomputer mechanism. Pretty nice if it can mount the watch as a disk and...
From some poking at the source, it looks like the Divesoft functionality is limited to importing files generated from the Divesoft software, not talking to the device itself (which would be part of libdivecomputer). Also see section 5.3.1 of the manual - Subsurface Version 4 User Manual | Subsurface
If I were a marketing person trying to address the youth, I'd be pushing that versatility along the axis of climate change and experience.
1. See the damage caused by climate change in coral reef
2. Experience the historic shipwreck in its final resting place
3. Harvest fish in an...
I'm skeptical of the cost thing too. As a relative beginner to this hobby, who has a teen that dives with me too, there's a convenience and familiarness aspect that's being ignored. Ask him if he wants to go diving, he's all in. Ask him to do some planning, well then...
Even as an adult who...
I think people are trying to tell you it's up to the LDS. My friend who I took AOW with (and he's now taking Rescue) buys his books online and our LDS doesn't have a problem giving him a reduced rate even though it's not on the web site.
I arranged a DSD for my scout troop, I think we had around 16 participate. It was in a pool, basically 2 lanes wide and the kids still had a blast. So much so that I think we're getting 8 more people certified, and next summer we have two crews (20 youth and adults) doing scuba adventures at BSA...
How you want it integrated. One post per dive? Do you just want it on the same domain? Do you want your site theme to be integrated?
I think the most straightforward way with Subsurface would be to do the HTML export and upload it to a directory not managed by Wordpress, e.g. '/dives' and then...
Been starting to keep my eyes out for a used MK25 set, but am really unsure if there are major differences between the years. Reading up on these boards I know there were some parts changed but it seems that the regular maintenance will update those parts, or will they? If I pick up a 5ish year...
I'm kinda out of my wheelhouse on the marine side of it here but I think the paper mentions this:
Previously, it was assumed that β D c = β B c , and that these coefficients had a single value for a given scene [9], but in [1] we have shown that they are distinct, and furthermore, that they had...
2019 - My goal for 2019 was to dive the NC wrecks but life got in the way and I couldn't make any of the trips my LDS made. I did get 14 dives in at the quarry and improved my buoyancy and SAC to the point where I'm not self conscious about them anymore. Very happy with my move from an old...
Yes.
From what I can gather, Mexico ratified it, the US and Canada haven't.
Either way, the cross border labor stuff that allows people to show up at the border and get a temporary work permit are virtually identical between NAFTA and USMCA.
