Judgemental much? Its getting like FB, can't have an opinion without someone jumping on the bandwagon and slagging you off for it. In future I'll just keep my opinions to myself :p

Look! Did I say anywhere that it was wrong??? No I didn't, I said it was my opinion, I don't use acid based products, I use Biox, it ain't cheap but it does a very very good job. Welcome to Biox Ltd Website - The future of Environmental Cleaning

I am fully aware of what and how it is used, I am a service tech, I said it was my opinion that acid should not be used. There's other non-acidic solutions that will do the job.

Just my personal opinion, but no acid of whatever type belongs anywhere near scuba equipment. The only liquid I use that contains anything that could be called acidic, is a weak citrus based degreaser.

Doesn't make it any less true. I bought 2 cheap chinese cleaners - from different sources so not a batch issue, they both failed after a couple of months of fairly light use. Even paid shipping for a replacement electronics board on one and that failed too! I've had similar experience with...

    Transporting The Cylinders

    Transporting The Cylinders

I never transport cylinders in the passenger compartment of a car, always in the boot, strapped down side to side, not forwards or backwards. In a van I would put them in standing upright. If a valve was to come out of a pressurised cylinder, its like a bullet from a gun, I'd sooner it went...

    Oceanic Alpha 9 front covers

They didn't go bust, back in 2017 Oceanic and Hollis were acquired by Huish Outdoors and part of the change was to move distribution to Germany, previously everything used to come through Oceanic SW (now called Fathom Outdoors). This was all supposed to be sorted by mid 2018 but it seems that...

    Hose servicing and O-ring sizes

    What is "servicing" a regulator?

Fair point, I always carry out a thorough inspection after cleaning to a. make sure it is clean and b. to check in case anything has been missed because it was covered with grease/dirt, so for me it is a specific step in the process, same as you could also say testing is a part of the processes...

    What is "servicing" a regulator?

With all due respect, you missed out a word between cleaning and reassembly...inspection. May seem obvious but you should always check for damage/wear and tear/corrosion when servicing regs.

SPG hose O ring keeps blowing out

If it is not the wrong size or duro it is also possible it is getting damaged by over tightening - I am not saying that is the case here, sounds like wrong duro to me. But, many people seem to think you need to use "Arnie" arms to tighten, whereas in reality you can get a perfect seal with just...

    Filling scuba tanks

We discussed this when I did my cylinder testers course and the consensus of opinion was apart from being potentially more dangerous, that it is 'old hat' and a complete waste of time putting a cylinder in water to be filled. Unless it is being cooled (which I have never seen), the water is...

Do brand new tanks need a visual inspection

Not here in the UK, they will get a quick check when the valve is fitted. Then 2.5 years from date stamp it will be due a visual inspection.

    New tank questions

If they were manufactured recently they shouldn't need either. They should have had a quick visual check before the valves were fitted to make there's no obvious corrosion or faults.
