Couple other options I’ve used are Thousand Islands Dive Excursions with Captain Ken and Arrow Charters with Captain Carl. They all hit the same wrecks. Clayton and A Bay are both great towns to stay in, you really can’t go wrong with who you choose.
I’m a big fan, I like the one handed operation and have never had them unlock accidentally. Mine have a shackle style bolt snap which is far superior to a double ender. I’m sure you would be happy with any higher end sidewinder style reel, there are tons of choices available. 250ft minimum...
Lol believe it or not I blame Chris. If you get out there it’s tied off at the base of the wreck below the tie in. We were already running late and I didn’t have much time to look.
For multiple dives you need to add a surface interval and it will give you the box for dive 2. The app is wonderful, I use it to plan all my dives. It matches Multideco and has all the features I want and need.
According to the news reports he is an instructor at a shop in Key West, Lost Reef Adventures. I assume that means he knows the wreck, is familiar with strong currents, and is properly outfitted for ocean diving. Gives some hope that he is adrift and can be found.
Diver is missing from a dive Wednesday morning 8/2/23. Source on the boat says he had intentions of penetrating the wreck. Prayers for the missing diver and the recovery teams...
We dove from the NJ side that day. I’m not sure if they have any access open to the Point of Gap overlook. I’ve scootered between the two sites when I didn’t want to pay the bridge toll but it would be tough to get to the train wreck site with 611 being closed. I much prefer diving the PA side.
I wear Eddy size XL in wetsuit boots and dry boots. We have the same size feet, size 12US. Try them on in the water, I think you have the right size. Worst case get a chunkier boot.
You’re on the right track, Gypsy Blood and the Independence 2 are the biggest charter operators. Both run rec and tech trips. Spots went fast this year but you can still find openings. You also have the Ol Salty in Belmar and the Dina Dee in Barnegat. Idk where to direct you for CCR support...
Came here to lick my wounds and it seems I'm not the only one... I dropped my primary light yesterday on my last deco stop. I don't really know how it happened, it was cold, I reached for the anchor line and I saw it going to the bottom. Dive was over an hour in 45F water. If anyone wants to...
They’re legit, Gene Peterson is the contact. He’s been doing it as long as anyone. They use several different boats in the area to run their trips. Only issue if you’re not local is they will issue store credit for a blowout instead of a refund.
