I’m here from Google - have you figured out a way to get microscope mode to work with your mf1 light automatically? I have the mf2 and I’ve been using it for the first time over the past few days but shots are super underexposed in microscope mode. Tomorrow I’m going to try manual power...
You know… that might be a much better option. I didn’t even think of flipping them and purchasing a different pair. And I certainly wasn’t aware that a rebranded version was available. That would be a lot more simple than trying to learn how to become a tailor. Much appreciated!!!
thank you! You saved me from a day or two of unnecessary attempted shrinking! I did find an old (2001!! See below) thread that seems to have a pretty comprehensive guide to doing what I’m looking at, to a wetsuit.
If the pinching method doesn’t work, I think I’ll try to trim and reglue. I don’t...
I bought a pair of new without tags Apeks tech shorts on eBay for $20 shipped. They‘re a size XL, and I normally wear between medium and large (sz 35). I was wondering how to best go about downsizing them to fit me. I was thinking of washing them in warm water and drying on low heat a few times...
Thanks! It’s probably silly, but I like how clean this one looks. I’ve been trying to reverse-engineer it for the last hour and getting frustrated by not figuring it out… your comment gives me some direction.
this is actually my computer, but someone else tied the knots and I’m not sure what type they are. I plan on replacing the cord and using the same knot, as it’s worked out really well for me.
Do you remember much you ended up getting for it? I’m debating selling my 2 and putting that towards a Backscatter MF-2 and their video light, but if they don’t go for much then I may as well just hang onto them “just in case”. Thank you!
Did you get it? How do you like it? I’m debating getting it or the MF-1… I’m just curious to see if there’s enough of a difference between them in terms of the actual photographs it will help take using a tg-6 to justify the price difference. Is RC flash capability really the huge upgrade that...
My air lens just arrived today (I’m upgrading from a Nikon w300 to a tg6) and it floods without burping. I already tested it out in a bucket. Maybe the original version was closed off? Or maybe they recommend burping to ensure there aren’t any air pockets? Although from how large the holes are...
Also, look at the last product being sold towards the bottom of the page - a “no burp o-ring kit” for the m52.. although I’m interested that you have never had any problems not burping. I’m very interested and if there is a quality difference between burping/not burping.
Add a No Burp O-ring...
It’s towards the end of the product overview video on this page:

perhaps you could try it and see if there is a difference? Please let me know if there is.

There’s a dive site here in Puerto Galera (actually it’s at Verde Island, but same difference) called “the washing machine”. It can get pretty intense. It’s not a site for your average recreational tourist diver. There have been more than a few instances where people came out of it with...
i ended up getting it from Kirk Scuba Gear, in case anybody in the future comes across this thread with the same issue (I forgot to update it 4 years and 1 day ago, haha).
How about a rigid 3-D printer faceplate? Seems like there might be some tech-savvy divers out there who would know how to create a file for others to print at their local library in whatever colors they wanted... and it would keep the same aesthetic if it was minimal in bulk.
Or you could just...
@pubert maybe they’ll have bigger discounts since it’s the first event of its kind... any recommendation on what day I should go? I’m thinking all 3 would be excessive. Thanks for the registration link - I just filled mine out.. and double thanks for telling me about this in the first place - I...
@pubert - it says the “seaside complex of the Conrad Hotel”... any idea where in the PI that might be? I googled Conrad and it says there’s one in Manila so I’m guessing that’s the right one... I’d be interested in going just for the experience.
Although if you think I could score a good deal...
I agree! The only reason I got it was because a harness set new from a dive shop here runs minimum $100... and making it myself was going to cost $80 (and probably not be very good)... and the guy selling it wouldn’t let me buy just the harness by itself.
Maybe I can sell the aluminum HOG...
Update: I bought the OMS steel backplate for $30, then decided I was going to build a harness to save money. I priced the materials, and they came out to around $80 for a bare-bones harness. Then a local sold me his old HOG aluminum bp with harness for $50. Looks like I’ll just switch the...
