One thing about prescription masks is that if you’re one of those who carry a spare, you need two or three. And then you can’t lend it to a buddy.
I don’t get into the water without a spare mask in my pocket. That means if I have a problem with one before I jump in, I need to have a third. The...
My eye doctor gave me contacts that are 0.5 and 1.0 less strong. it’s like wearing 1.0 readers. I also bought bigger gauges and a large computer. Problem solved, for now.
Most professional insurance can be obtained as a “tail,” which is coverage only for prior acts, but nothing new. DAN offers it for instructors and DMs. I’m sure others do as well.
When the Halcyon Focus 2.0 came out, a lot of users reported a black square near the center of the beam.
Does anyone who has (or recently returned?) on of these lights know whether the problem has been fixed?
I know you asked for non-cave divers, but as a cave diver, I took my wife on her first cavern dives (just before the pandemic), about ten dives after her certification. We hired a cave instructor who I’ve been cave diving with several times before to be the guide. So my wife was always between...
I bought a DST in 2000. It was my first reg for single-tank diving. When I moved to doubles, I bought another. Now it’s one of my stage regs for cave diving. Every few years, I have it serviced. The turret is helpful in single tanks and in stages. It’s also sealed. (I have a UST for my argon...
Things don’t get a lot lighter or smaller than an aluminum backplate and wing—the smallest you can get. Whatever you buy, don’t let anybody convince you that you need anything larger than 20 lbs. That setup is ideal for vacation and travel. (Fins end up being heavier and larger.) There’s no...
You could, but don’t you want to disconnect everything to rinse it? I usually give the BP a quick rinse and the wing a good rinse, inside and out, then leave it full of air to dry.
My harness might last a little longer if I were more careful with the BP. But they last so long anyway.
I didn’t mean any offense. I can tell you that the nylon screws on cave reels so commonly swelled after a short time under water that we quit using them.
Maybe your nylon is different than mine.
Just take it apart and rinse. That’s it. The BP is nearly indestructible. I’ve had my primary BP for 20 years. I wouldn’t leave the wing nuts on it, because it’ll impede the rinse. The wing also needs a great rinse, of course, like any other scuba gear.
Don’t do this. Nylon washers swell in...
This is a myth. Merely creating a business entity and having it own the boat isn’t enough. Failing to observe corporate formalities is a pretty common cause of veil piercing, especially for small businesses. There are likely to be a lot of plaintiffs (families or insurance companies) testing it...
