Trip Report Sudan Deep South liveaboard 2022 video

You are right. It was 2022 indeed! Oddly enough I never spotted that mistake 😳 Sloppy editing. Looks like Sudan will unfortunately be off the cards for the near future.

Trip Report Sudan Deep South liveaboard 2022 video

I was there the last two weeks of April. April/May are considered the best months for Sudan. It gets too hot after that.

Petition re: legalization of shark fishing in the Maldives

They have come to their senses and have decided to uphold the ban. Good news. Hopefully they will enforce it too.

Petition re: legalization of shark fishing in the Maldives

Shameful. I think the diving community should take a stand and threaten to boycot the Maldives as a destination, should this ban be lifted. The least we can do us join forces with environmental organizations fighting this proposal.

    Free Nitek Q4 spare parts

Hi, I have no idea, but given the weight it shouldn't be to steep. My estimate is less than 350 gr, which would be about 13 USD. I will check tomorrow and let you know.

    Free Nitek Q4 spare parts

My Nitek Q4 is brown bread, leaving me with some spare parts for which I have no use. We're talking about a couple of USB-plugs and O-rings, an O2-sensor cable, a charger, a strap and a USB cable. See pic below. Dive Rite no longer supports this computer, so perhaps someone here is happy to...

extra scuba days before/after liveaboard trip

Abu Dabab is the place to see Dugongs. I was lucky enough to encounter one (2007); when grazing they're very easy to approach. Not sure what their current population status is and what the chances are of seeing one.

Why is Red Sea so expensive this year?

I have just come back from Marsa Alam and noticed that tourism is on the up again there. Something that staff at both hotels and dive schools confirmed. So increased demand may well be the main factor.

    Continuing Diving after OW

My advice would be to look for used equipment. Buying new is usually a waste of money, that you could spend on other nice things (like courses). Except....except for certain items that require a perfect fit, like a mask or a wetsuit. Those are things you really want to be able to try on first...

Diving with Mantas in August - Where to?

Maldives are good for sure. Keep in mind that it's the monsoon season in August which impacts viz. The good thing of that is that it pushes prices down considerably.

OK... I know I have posted before about Rescue Diver...

I'll join the chorus. Definitely something you want to do at home if possible. Simply because it means more diving when on holiday. The fun of this course won't be enhanced by doing it abroad.

    Russian and Ukrainian snorkels

I love those old skool orange colours; they should bring those back. These days black is the new orange, it seems... Excellent thread btw.

Why is Red Sea so expensive this year?

I noticed a similar trend for the resorts. There may be a number of reasons for this, but a major factor seems to be the downfall of Turkey as a tourist destination this year. Greece is suffering a similar fate, albeit for different reasons and to a far lesser extent. Countries like Spain and...
