    Teric vs Mk3

Thanks for the reply … why I forgot to mention is that I know the Terics very well. Both my DPFL and I are on our fifth ones due to various issues since launch but always well taken care of from Shearwarer support. The lack of a floating compass on the main dive screen is unfortunate and may...

    Teric vs Mk3

I wanted to get some input from members who have used Terics from their launch and who have recently used, tried, or just played with the Mk3s as a dive watch. Not land sport extensive but some walking and maybe health features would be “nice”. I’m more interested in your experiences with...

    Shearwater transmitter failure

Having had five Terics since they were first released, I just had my first transmitter failure. NOT flooded and not a battery issue. It died about 20-30 minutes into a dive. Fortunately it was shallow and my DPFL was with me so zero worries. Will stop and get a new one today… got about...

    Teric Compass Calibration

Sorry that I just saw your message. The only thing I can do is to recalibrate the compass. It seems I need to do this every couple of weeks. Even though Shearwater replaced it several times, it still happened intermittently. Fortunately our reefs here are easy to navigate but I still like...

    Suggestion A smartphone/Tablet APP

Folks .. I am not saying to change or remove the design of the website. Many users subscribe to many forums and using a central tool/app such as TapTalk make watching, participatin, posting much easier. If it’s not for you - clearly stick with the web GUI.

    Regulator Replacement Suggestions (frequent diver)

For that - all we need to do is to fill the rinse sink before we head out for dives. A few hours under the sun and the water is bath water temp.

    Regulator Replacement Suggestions (frequent diver)

I did think about mounting a pony at the rinse tank. It’s interesting that you are the first to mention it always being better to rinse a pressurized Reg. Hmmmmm 🤔

    Regulator Replacement Suggestions (frequent diver)

Rinse tanks are our own, at our home, and filled fresh each diving day. I agree that by the EoD, many dive shop rinse tanks are pretty bad.

    Regulator Replacement Suggestions (frequent diver)

Regarding the second stage rinsing, which seems to be our issue. In the past we rinsed in the rinse tank, being sure to slosh them about. Our local Atomic dealer (who services them) indicated that with these regs, keeping them on an air supply and rinsing them while under pressure was better...

    Regulator Replacement Suggestions (frequent diver)

The problem area for me seem to be the second stages (primary and octo). Even though I clean them, after (nearly) every day of diving - very occasionally day #2, over time the salt build up becomes a problem so something is not getting a good flag/rinse. The (sealed) first stage still seems...

    Regulator Replacement Suggestions (frequent diver)

So I am thinking of replacing my Atomic B2 and undecided. While I do love the B2. It also requires more cleaning/maintenance than maybe others (even though that’s not their marketing message). Internal Secone stage components do seems to like me. That said, I’m not ruling out a new Atomic but...

    Terics and Zoop Nuvo settings

Thanks - Same day surface times on island for us and company are usually 45-60MINS for most shore dives. We always do safety "stops" as we head inshore to our entry spot - as there is a lot to see in the 20-10ft depths in the rubble and blade corals. . . we just want to get our Terics and our...

    Terics and Zoop Nuvo settings

Maybe my original post was not clear to some --- sorry about that. I picked up the Zoom Nuvos to use in case our Terics had issues where we were with out them (although we can generally get loaners or RMA replacements) but more importantly for family and friends who are visiting and do not...

    Terics and Zoop Nuvo settings

Thanks … I’ll set them to zero(0) and see. When I first got them, it was interesting to see the difference (we do e several dives with the Terics and Zoops). our Terics are set to ZHL 16C+GF GF Conserv is custom at 40/85.

    Terics and Zoop Nuvo settings

Understand and likely good for many dive profiles but here on island for shore diving it’s not quite what I’m looking to do with the Zoop. Most dives vary real-time without a defined MOD/Time.

    Terics and Zoop Nuvo settings

So our almost daily dive computers are our Terics (6-10x per week year round). I picked up a couple Zoop Nuvos as backups and/or for use by guests on island. I know the two use different algorithms I am trying to set the Zoop to be as close to the Terics as possible for NDLs, Safety Stops...

    Suggestion A smartphone/Tablet APP

Please … consider either contracting with developers to create an app or incorporate code to use something like TapTalk which is a furum aggregator. I understand this changes the business model but the web GUI for forums is very old, can be difficult to navigate for some and may keep some from...

    Info SCTLD closures on Bonaire

I’ll disagree with your assessment of the september temperatures. We dive on island 8-10x per week year round and record the temps from surface to 30+ meters each dive - they continue to increase as they did all month. RRFB is actually seeing bleaching on their hard coral growths at shallow...

    Info SCTLD closures on Bonaire

I disagree with your comment the temps are currently decreasing. At depts they are increasing and will continue for about another month. If you aren’t seeing it - fortunately it just means it’s still minimal.

    Info SCTLD closures on Bonaire

While those are correct ... sadly, there are no sites on island without some degree of SCTLD. The amount, the depth. and the spread varies. We are also now experiencing annual bleaching events which will further stress hard corals.
