    da aquamaster diaphragm

The hint was meant for the op. I used your quote, but changed seat to diaphragm. Thought it might help him.

How is the REE number on a tank used

    Not 3.125%?

    PST Tank ?

There's no "special test" for a + rating. So, there shouldn't be any worries there. But, OTOH, one jerkoff thought he was supposed to test it at 5/3 of the 10% overfill pressure (actually, he tested at 4166 psi, when it should have been 3750 psi). Haven't been back to him since, and the cylinder...

    Tumbling basics ?

I'll agree that the pressure drop will cool the air, and that was a good point that I hadn't fully considered. A little tact could have gone a long way though. All I know is what works for me. There is flash rust, then there is flash rust. The degree of "flash" can vary. I aim to minimize the...

    Tumbling basics ?

No joke. Been diving a bit deep lately? ---------- Post added June 15th, 2015 at 07:32 PM ---------- Yep. Try dry.

    Tumbling basics ?

I dry tumble. That way I have zero concern about flash rust while farting around trying to get the media out. I can also store the media dry without having to dry it first. Then I whip with some cool rinse water in the cylinder to rtemove the dust, and use dry compressed air from a hot cylinder...

    Weight of air?

Nope.....with one caveat........ This is true if using underwater measurements of "weight". On dry land, the opposite would be true. (Not to add to any confusion :headscratch:) This is because in most cases equivalent capacity aluminum cylinders are actually heavier than their steel...

    Weight of air?

You're both correct......or incorrect.....depending. He is right in that an aluminum 80 has more of a weight swing from full to empty than a steel 72 does. You are right if you are simply referring to an equal swing caused by equal amounts of air being emptied. It was probably just a...

    1960 DA Aquamaster

Probably just needs cleaning, hoses, mouthpiece valves, and a duckbill. It's a good idea to install a new second stage poppet, or at least flip the soft seat if needed. Should cost $100 or less to bring it back to servicable condition if you do the work yourself. And if you get another...

    Steel 72 worth it?

"If that's an indication of your mental prowess, I don't want you touching any of my gear. My tanks won't be back here, and neither will I. Good day."

    Hydro Testing + Rating

That PST document is about all we have for the 72s that I'm aware of, and, technically, it's only good for PST cylinders. The misprint sure doesn't help, though, if the "technician" even looks at it closely enough to catch it.

    Hydro Testing + Rating

Hahahaha! That's a good one! I thought I'd heard 'em all! Yes, with a comment like that, they certainly are not "qualified" to do a plus rating on any cylinder:shakehead: All they need is the REE. That is what most lack regarding the old 72s. Without it, no "+".

    Hydro Testing + Rating

No. Permanent expansion must be 10% or less of the total expansion to pass hydro. "REE" means "Rejection Elastic Expansion". All the hydrotester has to do for the "+" rating is to subtract the permanent expansion from the total expansion to find the elastic expansion. Then he simply ascertains...

    Hydro Testing + Rating

Here's a tip. If they charge an extra fee for it, or say it is a special test or an extra step in the test procedure, RUN, DO NOT WALK to another hydro facility.

    Single Hose without an SPG?

Figures. I was taught to ascend head up, looking up, and with one arm held up toward the surface to prevent hitting my head on any obstructions and potentially knocking myself silly. Made perfect sense to me at the time. Are those horizontal guys the ones that interlace their fingers and twiddle...

    Single Hose without an SPG?

My first dive, 1977, Kona (Kealakekua Bay), Hawaii off the Fairwinds catamaran. Rental/guided dive (of course- no cert). Single hose Dacor Olympic 100 with Dacor SPG/capillary combo (I believe), horsecollar with no auto inflate.

    Viewing "likes" received? How?

O.K. Thank you. It doesn't go back very far, does it? I hadn't been on in a while and had 40 likes racked up, and none of them are showing now. On the old site, the specific post was represented by quotes so I knew which posts were "liked". Now it seems only the ttitle of the thread is shown. Is...
