Diving in MO and Surrounding States

So...we are contemplating a move to MO. What parts of the state (N/S/E/W) and surrounding states have good places to dive? - Low-ish viz not an issue. 5' is OK, 10' is good. (Plenty of diving off NJ and lots of time in zero viz.) - Depth not a big problem, but above 201' preferred. - Cold...

    New Zipper

OK, what's the consensus these days? I have CF200 that will need a new zipper soon. Where should I sent it? DUI? DRIS? Gamble (though he's not there any more, I hear)? Diver's Cove in CT? Somewhere else? I want a neat, durable job at a reasonable price (which does not have to be the...

    Princeton Tec - Kudos!

I've been using the small Princeton Tec strobes for a while now. They seemed to last a few years, and weren't too expensive. But over the past couple years, a couple failed, and when I opened an unused one, it was DOA out of the wrapper. I called the company just to vent. No receipt for the...

Dive Charters Near (or a bit East of) Rochester NY

Wrecks are especially interesting. Easy stuff OK, technical stuff OK. What boats are good, and where do they sail from?

    Rick Stanton

So I am sure we all know the story of the Thai cave rescue, and the parts played by Richard Stanton and Jonathan Volanthen. Richard Stanton was quoted in Outside Magazine in the December 2018 issue on p. 90, and one part of what he said was: "I don't have any certifications, but I've been...

Dive Planning and Gas Mixing Software

OK, other than V-Planner and Multideco, what's out there that does as good a job or better? The MD schedules and gas consumption predictions approximately match what I use. I need to use "Kentucky windage" to compensate for gas heating when I mix, but I'm used to that. Price is a factor to...

    August Industries

I was visiting the Dallas area this week, and had a chance to stop by August Industries in Carrollton, TX. Porter Stiles, the owner, happened to be in, and willing to take some time to say hello. Not only that, but to give me a tour of the facility! Porter is a tall, fit-looking guy who is...

    Kubi Gloves - Maximum Thickness

After watching them perform flawlessly for a friend for several seasons, I decided to get the Kubi dry glove system. The only problem is that their largest gloves (XXL or 10.5) are a bit too small for me. Has anyone figured out how thick gloves can be to work with this system? 30 mil? 40 mil?

    Line Traps on Spring Straps

Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? I posted in another thread to be wary of this when purchasing spring straps, though I'm not sure many people knew what I meant. But it's not amusing to be entangled, and it so happened that I was pretty deep (~250') when it occurred. Line can and will get...

Does anyone know what kind of connector DUI uses for Blue Heat batteries?

Like it says...can post pics if it would help.

    Weezles are Warm

A friend has dived a Weezle Extreme for many moons. Although there is plenty of variation in individual divers, he always seemed warmer than I did in my Fourth Element Halo 3D. So when a Weezle popped up on Craigslist in new condition for $150 in my size, I got it. I dove it today in 40F-ish...

Anyone Have Experience with Sensorcon CO Analyzers?

I found these online: Carbon Monoxide Detector for SCUBA Tanks ...and the price, including bump gas for recalibration, seems pretty reasonable. Does anyone have experience with this company? A new analyzer costs less than the replacement sensor for some other detectors.
