Sucking in water tbrough my snorkel

Stop hating on the snorkels, I use mine all the when shore diving. 200yds on your back starting at the sun? No thanks, I'll preview the pretty fishes and the reef, and keep a look out for rays, bait balls etc. Adjust it on shore while looking at a mirror, when it's in your mouth, you want it...

Question Bonaire Shore Dives with a Dive Shop

I am not sure there are, but you could reach out to some of the resorts and operators, and see if they have anything like that. I did a quick Google search and it seems some do at $50-60 a dive plus gear. I think all of the boat dive operations put a guide in the water on every dive and it may...

    Curaçao visit in decmeber

I've heard really good things about "The Dive Bus", for guided shore dives, and Go West for boat dives. Curacao shore diving is pretty straight forward, if you've done Bonaire, the entries would be like VIP Accomodations in comparison. We have been diving as a family unit for a while now but it...

Bonaire Reef health and marine life compared to Cozumel

Food and lodging, prices are similar, we tend to go the VRBO route. You will pay a bit of a premium for a place to stay that has a house reef. With unlimited shore diving at $40 or so a day and only three dives per day you are under $15 a dive if you have all your own gear. As for the truck a...

    Bonaire solo diving and thefts

Tanks will be fine in a vehicle, I would presume don't ask / don't tell would be the way it works some shops rent pony bottles.

Dive shop recommendations (other than DFB)

It's usually corrected by Monday or Tuesday, I guess some one gets a talking too. I always check them before they go in the truck, but it irritates me in a specific and irrationally large way when I find a "dud".

Dive shop recommendations (other than DFB)

VIP, seems well liked, but I have no experience with them. I have used Buddy's for tanks and a Klein trip or two while staying in a VRBO. I have also have used DFB several times with no complaints, other than customers who put their used tanks in the full tank area, and even go so far as to put...

Afternoon in Bonaire - shallow water shore dive / free diving?

I've seen them on the roads when the cruise ships are in town, and lined up by the pier when the ships are arriving. I've never rented one but I have passed them on the roads a time or two, I try to be courteous, but I've seen others being rather aggressive, closing speed, pull out distance etc.

Afternoon in Bonaire - shallow water shore dive / free diving?

Reach out to Dive Friends Bonaire for tanks and gear if you need it. Try Salt Pier if there is no ship at the pier, it's about 20 minutes south of town. Rent a car or maybe a golf cart if you have nerves of steel

Buddy Dvie vs Capn Don's: Locker facilities

The facilities at den laman / sand dollar are good, but can be crowded. Security is ok, could use cameras and unique codes, but you don't have the brightest shinny-est gear you got nothing to worry about😂

What did you get out of the dive?

To quote The Eagles, "I get a peaceful easy feeling", like @icechip said a zen like state. Occasionally a large pelagic will drop by creating little extra excitement.
